EUGENE, Ore. -- Heading into halftime locked at 14-all with UCLA, No. 2 Oregon didnt panic. The Ducks knew theyd eventually wear down the No. 14 Bruins. Because thats what they do. "We understand that our tempo is one of our greatest allies," sophomore quarterback Marcus Mariota said. Oregon went on to score 28 unanswered points in the second half and beat UCLA 42-14 on Saturday night. Byron Marshall ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns, Mariota threw for 230 yards and another score, and the Ducks (8-0, 5-0 Pac-12) racked up 555 yards in total offence compared to 283 for UCLA (5-2, 2-2). "We just had to keep chipping away," Mariota said. "We knew that if we kept getting 5- or 6-yard chunks, we were going to get into a rhythm." Brett Hundley completed 13 of 19 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown but also threw two interceptions, including one early in the fourth quarter that led to an Oregon touchdown. He also ran for 64 yards and a score. "That was a very disappointing loss," Bruins coach Jim Mora said. "We didnt come up here to play them close, we didnt come up here to give it the old college try. We came up here to win the game and we didnt get it done and its very disappointing." UCLA, which has now lost two straight after falling to Stanford last week, has not won at Autzen Stadium since 2004, and hasnt defeated the Ducks since a 16-0 blanking in 2007. The two teams last met in 2011, when Oregon downed UCLA 49-31 in the inaugural Pac-12 championship game. The Ducks are the highest ranked opponent the Bruins have faced since they played the No. 1-ranked Ducks in the 2010 season. Last weekend UCLA fell 24-10 to No, 13 Stanford. Oregon, ranked No. 3 in the initial BCS rankings released last weekend, was coming off a 62-38 victory at home over Washington State. The Ducks have played one other game against a ranked opponent this season --a 45-24 victory over then-No. 16 Washington at Husky Stadium. "In the first half we had a couple of runs wed like to have back, and a we had a couple of throws wed like to have back," Ducks coach Mark Helfrich said. "But we finished right where we wanted to finish." Oregon got off to a poor start, stymied by its own mistakes and UCLAs stout defence. On the Ducks second play from scrimmage, Keanon Lowe fumbled a pass from Mariota. The turnover led to Hundleys 4-yard touchdown run to give the Bruins the early lead. But Rodney Hardrick ran 66 yards on a fake punt and DeAnthony Thomas finished it off with a 1-yard dive for an Oregon touchdown to even the score. Thomas had missed the last three games after injuring his right ankle on the opening kickoff in Oregons 55-16 victory over California on Sept. 28, slipping on turf slick from a driving rain. Thomas was the Ducks leading rusher with 338 yards and six touchdowns in three games before he was injured. He finished with 31 yards rushing against the Bruins. Oregon went ahead 14-7 early in the second quarter with a 40-yard scoring run from Marshall, a sophomore who took over as starter in Thomas absence. Alejandro Maldonados punt for the Ducks was blocked late in the half, putting UCLA in Oregon territory. The Bruins capitalized on Hundleys 11-yard scoring pass to Thomas Duarte to even the game at 14. Midway through the third quarter, Mariota fumbled on first-and-goal at the UCLA 5, but the Bruins were forced to punt and the Ducks quickly responded with Marshalls 11-yard touchdown run. Avery Patterson intercepted Hundley early in the fourth quarter and the Ducks went on to score on Mariotas 8-yard pass to Bralon Addison. Marshall added a 3-yard touchdown dash with 8:47 left and freshman Thomas Tyner ran for a 2-yard TD with 2:25 to go for the final margin. It was Marshalls fifth straight game with at least 100 yards rushing this season. The Bruins were without junior tailback Jordon James, who missed his third straight game with an ankle injury. He had run for more than 100 yards in each of the Bruins first three games. The Bruins were also dealing with injuries on their offensive line, and as a result the team started three true freshman: Alex Redmond at right guard, Caleb Benenoch at right tackle and Scott Quessenberry at left guard. The Bruins have played 17 true freshmen this season. "I told the guys we played hard, but playing hard is not enough. Weve got to get to the point of the football where we play efficiently, where we dont make mistakes at critical times, where we run the right route, we block the right guy, we keep the right leverage, we make the tackle," Mora said. "We have to be able to get to the point as a football where we do the things on a consistent basis that champions do. Were not there yet." Tavon Wilson Jersey . Russia finished on top of Group F with 22 points, one point ahead of second-place Portugal which beat 10-man Luxembourg 3-0 and will go into next months European playoffs for a berth in Brazil. Kevin Faulk Super Bowl Jersey . The 20-year-old from Thornill, Ont., dropped to No. 29 in the ATP rankings released Monday. Raonic underwent surgery last month after suffering a tournament-ending injury during the second round of Wimbledon. http://www.patriotsjerseysauthentic.com/Brandon-LaFell-Super-Bowl-Jersey/ . The Incheon-based tea, of the Korea Baseball Organization said the deal for the 35-year-old Scott included a $50,000 signing bonus. Scott reached the major leagues with Houston in 2005 and hit 23 homers or more for Baltimore each year from 2008-10. Vince Wilfork Jersey . -- The Green Bay Packers have agreed to a contract extension with starting right guard Josh Sitton that will keep him with the team through 2016. Steve Grogan Jersey . The match will be played on Centre Court at Rexall Centre on the opening night of the Aug. 5-11 WTA tournament. "Im very excited to be coming back to Toronto both to help get the tournament started with this great exhibition but also to compete for another Rogers Cup trophy," said Serena Williams, who won the French Open last weekend.CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said after all of these years in the NBA hes still amazed at some of the things LeBron James does. "You know, hed be fun to watch if you werent coaching the other team," Clifford said. James scored 30 points to help Miami beat Charlotte 97-81 Saturday night for the Heats 13th straight victory against the Bobcats. With Mario Chalmers suspended, Chris Bosh limited due to foul trouble, Ray Allen out with the flu and Dwyane Wade a non-factor, James came up big for the Heat. The four-time MVP was 13 of 18 from the field and had seven assists in his eighth 20-point game this season. "More than anything, it was his energy," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of James. "When you see him attacking off the glass and pushing coast to coast, you know he feels good with his body and you know it sets a great tone for our team. Hes playing with great energy on both ends of the court." Miami (7-3) relied on its bench to close the game out. Of Miamis 29 points in the fourth quarter, 23 came from reserves Michael Beasley, Chris Anderson, Rashard Lewis and Roger Mason Jr. Beasley finished with 15 points and Anderson had 10 for the Heat, winners of six of their last seven overall. Bosh said it was an odd feeling having so many starters out of the game in the fourth quarter with the outcome still in doubt. "I dont know when the last time that has happened," Bosh said. "But (the reserves) kept the lead at a nice distance. We were rooting for them and encouraging them because we need everybody -- one through 15 -- to not only raise their play but sustain it." James said he had intentions of returning to the game late in the fourth quarter but didnt need to after the Heats reserves began to pull away with the lead. "Once they got going I just said let them keep going," James said. "They had a great rhythm." Kemba Walker had 22 points to lead the Bobcats, who shot 35 per cent from the field. Jeffery Taylor scored 14 points and has now finished in double digits in six of the last seven games. The Bobcats (5-5) had won two straight comingg in, and stayed within 10 points for a good portion of the fourth quarter but could never grab the lead.dddddddddddd. "Weve got to keep on pushing," Walker said. "I think weve been playing some great basketball right now. Its still early in the season. All we have to do is keep looking forward and keep trying to get better." James had 20 points in the first half on 8-of-11 shooting and Miami led by as many as 16. Only one of James first-half field goals came from outside of 10 feet as he did his damage driving and attacking the basket. Its a good thing for Miami that James was on his game early because the other parts of the big three struggled. Wade only played 23 minutes after his knee tightened up, while Bosh had three fouls and no points in eight first-half minutes. Bosh would later pick up his fifth foul with 4:27 left in the third quarter and drew a technical foul after hed taken a seat on the bench. A few seconds later, Spoelstra began chirping at the officials and he was slapped with a technical, too. But the Heat survived, in part because of their defence. James said thats a good sign. "At the end of the day if we dont defend we arent going to be able to compete where we want to compete," James said. "It was nice to see us play with a lot of energy tonight." Chalmers was serving a one-game suspension after being ejected from the Heats 110-104 victory over Dallas on Friday night. Chalmers was called for flagrant-2 foul with 5:01 remaining in the fourth quarter after referees ruled he intentionally swung an elbow at Dirk Nowitzkis head as he tried to fight through screen. Before Saturday nights game Spoelstra said he "disagreed" with the NBAs decision to suspend Chalmers. "We dont have to agree with it," Spoelstra said. "What we can do is agree to disagree."
