However, StrikeForce, Invicta, and Bellator all have womens MMA. Also, Dan Henderson isnt the oldest fighter ever to fight in the UFC, Ron Van Clief was 51 at UFC 5. So, the fact remains that its a good card, but no history being made. Once again, James Lynch and I are going to give our picks. Let us know who you think is more MMA savvy #TeamLynch and #TeamJC. Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche@LynchOnSports: Despite the immense pressure on Rousey going into this fight, shell defend her title via armbar in typical “Rowdy” fashion. The 26-year-olds impressive judo and a submission skills will be too much for the former U.S Marine. Simple MMA math tells me that because Rousey earned first round victory over Sarah Kaufman and Miesha Tate (who submitted Marloes Coenen), Carmouche shouldnt be any more challenging seeing as in how she lost to both Kaufman and Coenen.Rousey via 1st round Submission (Armbar)@Fitcityjordan: Athletes dont see the world like most people. This fight wont be anything other than Rousey doing what she has done for the past 10 years - win using world class judo. My hope is the she sets it up with better striking than we have seen. That way I will get excited about a fight with her and Santos. Although that is looking like it is never ever going to happen. To paraphrase Taylor Swift “We, are never ever getting in a cage together”, or something like that.Rousey via 1st round Submission (Armbar in less than three minutes).Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto MachidaLynch: In a dream fight and what could possibly determine the next title challenger at 205-pounds, I see Henderson having his hand raised at the end of this contest. I can see the comments already “Youre crazy! The former Strikeforce champ is too old and slow!” But were talking about one of the pound-for-pound best fighters on the planet, who has dispatched the likes Fedor Emelianenko, Mauricio (Shogun) Rua and Vitor Belfort. The Team Quest captain always finds a way to win and you can never count him out of a fight. Even at age 42, I see him using his wrestling, finding his range and knocking out the Brazilian sometime in the second round.Henderson via 2nd round KnockoutJC: I couldnt agree more. I tell anyone the story that will listen about the time I grappled with Henderson. When I was doing Strength and Conditioning at Team Quest they let me train and spar with them. In 20 minutes, I got mashed by Henderson, hip tossed by Sokoudjou, and repeatedly leg kicked by Tarec Saffiendine. I did that for six weeks and at the end of that time, devoted myself to strength training and media only. Long story short, Henderson is the strongest athlete I have met in any sport. That right hand is indescribably hard. When it connects with Machida, in combination with his infamous dirty boxing, it will get him the win.Hendo via 2nd round Knockout (H-Bomb). Urijah Faber vs. Ivan MenjivarLynch: An intriguing fight and a rematch from their bout in Montreal back at TKO 24 in 2006 which resulted in a DQ (due to a kick to a downed opponent). The California kid has lost 5 of his last 10 bouts and even though those were all championship fights, Faber will be inching for a victory. Menjivar meanwhile has found success in the UFC amassing a 4-1 record and a win over a former champion like Faber would skyrocket the 30-year-old up the bantamweight ladder. However, I think Faber will be too much for the Tristar product and will use his wrestling to grind out a decision.Faber via Unanimous DecisionJC: Team Alpha Male is a dominant force in the MMA wrestling department and they are non stop with their takedowns. Menjivar is one of the most elusive fighters out there. Which is why he wins when people strike with him. Thats not what Faber does. This will go to decision, with cage control and take downs going to Faber. I assure you Faber will get into trouble on several occasion and this wont be a boring decision. Menjivar will land spinning back fists, head kicks, and strange angle punching combinations, but it wont be enough to stop the takedown and top control from Faber.Faber via Unanimous Decision Court McGee vs. Josh NeerLynch: After losing two straight fights, the TUF season 11 winner McGee will be making his welterweight debut against the seasoned veteran Neer. No surprise here as both fighters will engage in a stand-up war and I see the 28 year old McGee sending Neer to the dentists chair in the form of a unanimous decision.McGee via Unanimous DecisionJC: Finally we disagree and I can pick a fight with Lynch. Both fighters are on a two fight losing streak. Both fighters have yet to really live up to their potential and the skill that surrounds them. I think McGee is the better fighter when it comes stand-up. However, I also see McGee being susceptible to Neers guillotine choke. Neer via 1st round Submission (Guillotine) Josh Koscheck vs. Robbie LawlerLynch: Lawler returns to the UFC and the 170-pound division, where he hasnt fought since getting knocked out by Nick Diaz way back at UFC 47 in 2004. The UFC did the Iowa native no favours for his homecoming as he squares off with Josh Koscheck, who is hungry for a win after a lacklustre loss to Johny Hendricks last year. In my opinion this is the biggest mismatch on the main card and I see this fight playing out similarly to how Tim Kennedy won a decision against Lawler back in 2011, using his superior wrestling to grind out a decision.Koscheck via Unanimous DecisionJC: Only one person has ever knocked out Koscheck. I think the second person will be Robbie Lawler. With 16 KOs to his resume, and one of the hardest punches out there, I expect this to end in the second round. Lawler has lost a lot of big fights in the last little while. His return to UFC will mean a lot to him. I expect him to put it on the line, and connect with a big punch to end the night early.Lawler via 2nd round Technical KnockoutAs always, we want to hear what you have to say.
