SAN DIEGO -- Wilin Rosario followed a terrible night at the plate with one of the best of his career.
Roddy White Falcons Jersey . Rosario had a career-high four hits and drove in three runs, leading the Colorado Rockies over the Padres 9-5 Saturday night. Rosario broke a 1-1 tie in the second with his fourth home run of the season, a two-run drive off Edison Volquez (0-3). Rosario made it 5-1 with an RBI single in the third, singled off Thad Weber leading off the fifth and singled off Joe Thatcher in the ninth. A night earlier, Rosario was 0 for 4 with three strikeouts. "Some days you come to the plate and maybe your mind is not on the field," Rosario said. "I dont want to say thats why I was 0 for 4 yesterday and today 4 for 5. Sometimes youre good; sometimes youre not. Today I was seeing the ball really well." Jhoulys Chacin (2-0) allowed two runs and four hits in five innings, his ERA rising from 1.35 to 1.96. He threw 83 pitches to beat the Padres for the second time this season and improve Colorado to 5-0 against San Diego. "Its really nice to be able to win a game when youre not pitching that well," Chacin said. "I wasnt getting much movement on my fast ball and I got behind too many hitters. But with our offence you might be able to give up even four runs and still win." Chacin extended the Rockies streak of consecutive games without a 100-pitch start to 113. "Chacin put us in position to win again," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "He laboured a bit and was working hard to get through that one." Padres starter Edison Volquez gave up seven runs -- six earned -- six hits and three walks in 3 1-3 innings, leaving him with an 11.68 ERA. San Diegos fourth straight loss dropped the Padres to 2-9. "Over the course of 33 starts, youre going to have some rough ones," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Volky has had them right out of the get go. Lets hope that he can get it straightened out. Its the ball-strike ratio, pitching ahead in the count." San Diegos Carlos Quentin, on the active roster while the players union appeals his eight-game suspension stemming from Thursdays brawl with Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke, popped out to the catcher as a pinch-hitter in the eighth with runners on second and third and one out. Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run homer in the fourth off Weber, giving the Rockies a major league-leading 15 on the road this season. Carlos Gonzalez had three hits and a walk, and Troy Tulowitzki had two hits and two RBIs. Todd Helton hit an RBI double in the third, tying Ivan Rodriguez for 20th on the career list with 572 doubles. San Diegos Everth Cabrera tied his career high with four hits, including a triple and home run in the seventh off Edgmer Escalona. Will Venable homered off Escalona later in the inning. With the chance to become the first Padres player to hit for the cycle, Cabrera singled in the ninth. The Padres have been one hit away from the cycle 344 times in their 45-year history. NOTES: Reid Brignac was in the starting lineup at third base for the Rockies as Chris Nelson was given the night off by manager Walt Weiss. Weiss said Yorvit Torrealba will be the starting catcher Sunday when Jorge De La Rosa starts. Clayton Richard pitches for the Padres.LF Mark Kotsay left the game in the fourth inning with a mild hamstring strain. ... Padres 3B Chase Headley had a double in three at-bats on Friday at Class-A Lake Elsinore on an injury rehabilitation assignment after breaking his left thumb. "It felt great," Headley said. I was real happy with the way I swung the bat, I got jammed and it didnt hurt." He is to return to Lake Elsinore on Sunday and play in the field. Headley was in San Diego to receive his Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards from last season.

Some respondents said they would prefer it if the team could win with Canadian players, while fewer still said they wanted to see their team field Canadian-born players at all costs.

Feuz and Kroell both finished in one minute 32.35 seconds on the Olympic course. In a tight race, Kjetil Jansrud of Norway finished third, 0.03 seconds behind. "I made a deal with my knee that Ill heal after the (World Cup) finals," said Feuz, who has been struggling with injury but said he will race next weekends technical events in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, hoping to clinch the overall title. Feuz now has 1,140 points and leads Austrian technical specialist Marcel Hirscher by five points in the overall standings. He also climbed to third in the super-G standings, 25 points behind leader Aksel Lund Svindal. Feuz is also a contender for the downhill title, where he is third in the standings, 25 points behind Didier Cuche. "Its a big surprise to be in the run for three cups. I never expected it at the beginning of this season," said the Swiss skier, who won his fifth World Cup race. "It means a lot to be up there in the top and it makes the rest of the season very exciting." Last year, Feuz won his first race in Kvitfjell in the downhill. "I always look forward to skiing here. Its a special place where Im very comfortable with my skiing," Feuz said. "The course here today was firm and I was able to ski with pressure and with an aggressive line from top to bottom." Feuz will get a chance to add to his lead in Saturdays downhill. "I will study videos to hopefully find the aggressive line. Im looking forward to trying for a good result tomorrrow," he said.

And it was the first tied mens World Cup race since Svindal and Cyprien Richard of France shared a giant slalom win in January 2011 in Adelboden, Switzerland. "(The tie) doesnt matter," Kroell said. "Im happy with my victory here." Top Canadian was Erik Guay of Mont-Tremblant, Que., in ninth place. Calgarys Jan Hudec was 13th. "Its a tough course," said Guay. "The snow changed completely from yesterday. You needed to stick your nose out and take some chances. I just had a bit of an off day, mentally. I didnt feel that confident. I didnt take (enough) chances." Heading into the race, Jansrud led both downhill training sessions but was unable to reproduce another flawless run in the super-G. "From the middle section and down I skied well," said Jansrud, who recovered from a shaky start. "Really, its a privilege to be on the podium. The three hundredths are frustration, more than anything. Im certainly not the first guy to lose by those numbers. Cuche, who won last years super-G, was fourth, 0.10 behind the winners. Olympic champion Svindal was fifth, 0.17 behind. The fifth-place finish was enough for Svindal to maintain his slim super-G lead over Cuche. Svindal has 333 points, two ahead of Cuche with two races remaining. On Sunday, Kvitfjell will host the last super-G race before the World Cup finals in Schladming, Austria. In Saturdays downhill, Svindal and Jansrud will be bidding to become only the second Norwegian to win a downhill World Cup race on home soil, following Lasse Kjus. ' ' '
