(Sports Network) - The sizzling Pittsburgh Penguins will shoot for a ninth straight victory when they welcome the Boston Bruins for todays Eastern Conference showdown at Consol Energy Center. Watch the game live on TSN and TSN Mobile TV at 12:30pm et/9:30am pt. The Penguins are on a season-high winning streak, posting eight consecutive victories since a 6-2 setback in Buffalo on Feb. 19. Its the longest winning streak for Pittsburghs since a 12-game tear from Nov. 17-Dec. 11 of last season. The hot streak has helped Pittsburgh close the gap considerably in the race for the Atlantic Division title. The Pens are now just four points behind the first-place New York Rangers, who are playing tonight against the visiting Islanders. Pittsburghs latest victory came in a close decision Friday against the visiting Florida Panthers. The Pens tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Steve Sullivan early in the third period and James Neal eventually won the contest in the shootout. Neal began the shootout with a tally against Jose Theodore and Evgeni Malkin backed it up with a goal on his chance. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped Wojtek Wolski and Mikael Samuelssons shot sailed wide of the net to end the game. "We do a good job of not panicking on the bench, staying level-headed and focusing on the task at hand," Neal said about his teams ability to come back in games. Fleury finished with 28 saves for the Penguins, who have won six in a row on home ice and are 23-8-2 in the Steel City this season. Todays game marks the end of a four-game homestand for Pittsburgh, which will play its next three games on the road, beginning with Thursdays game against the rival Rangers. Malkin has gone the last two games without a point, marking the first time hes been held off the scoresheet in two straight games since Dec. 31 and Jan. 2. With 81 points, the Russian star is trailing Tampas Steven Stamkos by one point for the NHL scoring lead. Pittsburgh wont have captain Sidney Crosby today, but the star forward is nearing a return from his head and neck injuries. Its possible that he could play Thursday against New York. Crosby, who was cleared for contact recently, has been limited to just eight games of action since suffering a concussion in January of 2010. He made a brief return in late November before again experiencing concussion symptoms. The center was also diagnosed with a soft tissue injury in his neck this past January, but resumed skating with the team in February. Boston, which is two points ahead of Ottawa for the Northeast Division lead, will try to bounce back from Saturdays close loss to visiting Washington. Although Boston fought back from a two-goal deficit to tie the Capitals at 2-2 early in the second period, the Bruins were unable to gain a point in the a 4-3 regulation loss. The Bruins had won two in a row before the loss to Washington, but were denied in their pursuit for their first three-game winning streak since late December. Brad Marchand had a goal and an assist and Johnny Boychuk and Milan Lucic each lit the lamp for the Bruins. Tim Thomas was tagged with all four goals on 30 shots in the loss. "Its tough to play catch-up hockey in this league," said Boston head coach Claude Julien. "Thats what weve been having to do a lot of lately." Boston played Saturday without defenseman Andrew Ference (lower body) and forward Daniel Paille (left arm). Both players are questionable for today. This afternoons test marks the start of a three-game road trip for the Bruins, who boast a solid 20-11-1 record as the guest. All told, Boston will play six of its next eight games away from Beantown. The Bruins and Pens have split a pair of meetings this year with each club winning on the road. Pittsburgh has taken three of four and six of nine overall in this series and Boston has claimed three straight in the Steel City. cheap jerseys from china . Brantley completed 21 of 30 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown, showing marked improvement in Charlie Weis pro-style offence. He threw two interceptions, but the first was tipped at the line of scrimmage. Rainey touched the ball 18 times, scoring on a 14-yard reception and a 14-yard run. He also scooped a blocked punt and sprinted 22 yards for a score that made it 31-3 early in the third quarter. Muschamp, admittedly anxious before his Florida debut, enjoyed a relatively stress-free night. Although the Gators ruled defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd ineligible before the game, the only other negative on this night was an injury to versatile Trey Burton. Jeff Demps ran 12 times for 105 yards and two scores as Floridas offence racked up 468 yards. It was a considerably better showing than Floridas last opener, which set the tone for a disappointing 2010 season. The Gators had botched snaps, penalties and turnovers against Miami, Ohio, finishing with 212 yards and hearing more jeers than cheers. Little went wrong against the Owls. The Gators scored on their first four possessions and led 24-0 before Florida Atlantic even got a first down. Floridas defence dominated the Owls, controlling the line of scrimmage and forcing four consecutive three-and-outs to start the game. FAU finished with 137 yards, a rough start for coach Howard Schnellenbergers retirement tour. Schnellenberger, who is calling it quits at the end of this season, watched the game from an upstairs coaching box following a hospital trip Friday. The 77-year-old coach experienced severe discomfort in his surgically repaired hip during a bus rride to Gainesville.dddddddddddd He said the trouble began when he started doing some hip rehabilitation exercises while the bus was stopped for repairs. Schnellenberger got a leg cramp he couldnt knock and ended up calling for medical help. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital near Port St. Lucie. X-rays were negative, and Schnellenberger eventually rejoined the team in Gainesville. "No damage done; its in great shape," said Schnellenberger, who had hip replacement surgery three weeks ago. "Ill be out there. Not going on the field today. Im going upstairs because only an idiot would take two chances in two days. From then on well be on the sideline." His teams performance wouldnt have looked good from any vantage point. Demps took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, but it was called back because of a holding penalty. That was a minor setback, though. Brantley, Demps and Rainey quickly moved the Gators into FAU territory. Brantley repeatedly hit Demps and Rainey with swing passes. A snap over Brantleys head stalled the drive, and Florida settled for a field goal. But the fast start was just what the Gators needed after last years confidence-crushing season. Florida failed to score points in the first quarter in six of the teams first seven games in 2010. So when Brantley got the ball back, the Gators were on the move again. Frankie Hammond made a nice catch near the sideline, Jordan Reed made a great grab in traffic and then Brantley found Rainey in the flat for the touchdown. Rainey made one cut and slipped across the goal line. Raineys TD run was even niftier. He used a spin move to escape a defender in the backfield, picked up two blocks and scampered in to make it 24-0. The Gators cruised from there. Demps went untouched on a 35-yard TD run, then added a 20-yard score. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
