Itis anhomagetothe logo created by thelegendaryRed Auerbach,sbrother, Zang, a former Chaussure de Nike Kobe 9 for newspapers in Washington,back in the early 1960s.The logo will be used on team apparel and merchandisestarting this month.“It’s such an iconic silhouette that people, when they see it, they’ll know exactly what it is,” said Shawn Sullivan, the team’s chief marketing officer. But the Celtics were to temper expectations with this new logo. Celticscreative directorKeith Sliney, who designedthe logo, said this will not replace the main logo.“We think of it more as extending the Celtics brand,” Sliney said. “Our existing logos are not changing. This alternate is an additional emblem for us to use on everything from print to web to fabric. It’s very flexible.”
