But I try not to let that come into my job  发帖心情 Post By:2014-12-29 14:47:58

LOS ANGELES -- Drew Doughty thought the Kings loss in Detroit four days earlier epitomized much of what went wrong for Los Angeles this season. 12th Fan Elite Jersey . The Kings one-sided victory in the rematch showed every reason their $56 million defenceman hopes it can still turn out all right. Doughty had a goal and his first assist in 19 games, Anze Kopitar had a short-handed goal and an assist, and the Kings stayed in the thick of the playoff chase with a 5-2 victory over the injury-depleted Red Wings on Tuesday night. Jeff Carter and Justin Williams also had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in the Kings fifth victory in seven games. Los Angeles emphatically avoided a season sweep by the Red Wings, pulling the Kings into a four-way tie for eighth place in the Western Conference. Los Angeles blew a one-goal lead in the final five minutes of a 4-3 loss in Detroit last Friday, making crucial defensive mistakes and failing to score at key moments. The Kings erased it all at home, taking an early lead and dominating special-teams play. "We were so disappointed in that loss because there was no way we should have given away those two points," Doughty said. "We learned from that game, and were using that. ... All that we can control is the games that we are winning. Hopefully some other teams lose some for us." Los Angeles is even with San Jose, Calgary and Colorado in the West with 78 points, although the Avalanche have the most victories, and the Sharks have played the fewest games. Seventh-place Phoenix is one point ahead in a playoff race that is likely to go down to the final week. Slava Voynov scored a power-play goal in the third period for the Kings, and Carter added an empty-net goal from the Los Angeles blue line in the final minute. Doughty had his first multipoint game since Feb. 1 as the Kings returned from a four-game road trip for their fifth home game since that date. With just 12 games left, the Kings acknowledge an awareness of their surroundings -- in the standings, anyway. "We have to take care of our own game," said captain Dustin Brown, who had two assists to extend his point streak to nine games. "But with the way it is and the amount of games left, you always scoreboard-watch just because its so tight. Ultimately, we have to win games for us to have a chance, and thats our main priority. Afterward, you have to worry about what happened around the league." Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen scored and Jimmy Howard stopped 22 shots in his return from a three-game absence with a groin injury for the fourth-place Red Wings, who played without injured stars Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk. Detroit has lost four of five midway through a four-game road trip that includes all three California clubs. "Ive got a laundry list of things that I thought I could have done a lot better out there," said Howard, still third in the NHL with 33 victories in 50 games. "It was my first game back in a week and a half, so Ive just got to continue to work hard in practice and get the rhythm back out there. I thought the game was extremely fast in front of me, so Im going to have to find a way to slow it down until I get back to game speed." Lidstrom watched his eighth straight game from the press box because of an injured ankle, and Datsyuk missed his 10th consecutive game with a knee injury. Todd Bertuzzi also sat out his fourth game with an undisclosed lower body injury. Detroits power play foundered again in its stars absence, going 0 for 4 to extend its scoreless slump to six games. Los Angeles has killed 32 consecutive penalties. "I dont know how much the power play had to do with anything tonight," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "I didnt think we played hard enough. They had a simple plan, getting the puck in, getting on the forecheck and grinding, and I didnt think we had enough resistance. Youre not going to win with the approach we had. The other team cant win all the battles." The Kings controlled play early and took the lead when Williams pushed a rebound underneath Howard less than seven minutes in. Kopitar scored several minutes later, after a Detroit turnover during a power play, putting a slick wrist shot past Howard for his 21st goal. Los Angeles Mike Richards appeared to make an artful mid-air deflection of Doughtys shot to snap the former Philadelphia captains 25-game goal skid in the second period. The goal was upheld by video review, but the officiating crew eventually determined Richards didnt touch the puck, and awarded credit to Doughty during the third period. NOTES: Both teams next game is on the road against the Anaheim Ducks. Detroit visits on Wednesday, and the Kings conclude the Freeway Faceoff on Friday. ... Carter has seven points in nine games since being traded to Los Angeles. The Kings have scored 30 goals since his arrival, moving past Minnesota into 29th place in the 30-team NHL in total goals scored. ... Tom Hanks attended the game. Doug Baldwin Authentic Jersey . Davis set career highs with 40 points and 21 rebounds, and Eric Gordon made two crucial free throws in overtime to lead the Pelicans to a 121-120 overtime victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. Cortez Kennedy Elite Jersey . While the spotlight has been on potential first overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney and his 40-yard time, and top quarterback prospect Blake Bortles during the throwing drills, top prospects Greg Robinson and Sammy Watkins have impressed scouts enough to solidify or even boost their spots on draft boards.AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Andre Drummond had his best night on the boards. He was happier about another rare feat. Drummond had 17 points and a career-high 26 rebounds to match a single-season franchise record with his 44th double-double, helping the Detroit Pistons surge to beat the New York Knicks 96-85 Monday night in a matchup of slumping teams. The Pistons had lost four straight and seven of eight. "Im just happy we won the game," Drummond said when asked about his career-high rebounding total. Drummonds 26 rebounds matched Houstons Dwight Howard for the most in an NBA game this season. "Hes a young, explosive player," New Yorks Tyson Chandler said. "We missed a lot of shots, so we helped him out." New York has dropped seven straight games and 13 of 15. "Im running out of comments," Carmelo Anthony said. And, the Knicks are running out of time to rally for a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. "Its not over yet," Amare Stoudemire insisted. It looked like the Knicks skid might end after Anthony scored 10 of his 28 points in a first quarter in which they led by as much as 14 and were ahead 28-20 when it ended. "We started off slow and let them be comfortable," Drummond said. The second-year centre said the plan was to start making Anthony uncomfortable, and it worked. The Pistons outscored New York by three points in the second quarter, 30-20 in the third and started the fourth quarter with eight unanswered points. "We got a string of stops, but we couldnt convert on the other end," Anthony said. The Knicks, who started 8 of 15 from the field, were 9 of 18 in the first quarter. Anthony made his first four shots — all from the outside — for 10 points in six-plus minutes as New York led 14-4. Stoudemire, who scored eight points in the first quarter, made a driving dunk to lift the Knicks to a 25-11 lead. Over the next three quarters, New York barely connected on one-third of its shots. "A game like this is very disappointing," Chandler said. "When you have that kind of lead and when you have that kind of control of the game,, you should be able to win. Cliff Avril Womens Jersey. "We just went flat and let them take over." J.R. Smith missed a lot of attempts before closing 5 of 17 from the field and scoring 16 points for the Knicks. New Yorks Raymond Felton made only 1 of 9 shots and acknowledged his personal life might be affecting him professionally. He was charged last month with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm. "Obviously if youre dealing with something, its on your mind," Felton said. "But I try not to let that come into my job." New Yorks third guard, Tim Hardaway Jr., was 0 for 6 in front of some fans who cheered for the rookie at Michigan. "I thought our defence was pretty solid, but our offence fell apart in the second half," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. "We were just flat, and we couldnt get anything going from the outside. Raymond didnt hit anything. J.R. didnt hit anything. Timmy didnt hit anything. We cant ask two guys to score all our points." Stoudemire had 22 points — one short of his season high — despite playing sparingly in the fourth quarter. He was on the court for 32 minutes, a day after facing the Chicago Bulls, after recently being slowed by an injured left ankle. "I feel great," he said. "Its a great sign." Detroit reserves Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum each scored 16 points, helping their teams bench outscore New Yorks 36-7. Greg Monroe had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons, who are trying to climb up in the Eastern Conference standings to earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2009. NOTES: Drummond matched a team double-double mark set by Bill Laimbeer during the 1983-84 season that was equaled by Grant Hill in the 1995-96 season. ... New Yorks Kenyon Martin, whose sore left ankle is still in a protective boot, said is scheduled to have his injury evaluated on Thursday. ... Detroits Josh Smith scored 15 points on 5 of 17 shooting. ... The Knicks lost a regular-season series against Detroit for the first time since the 2006-07 season. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
