Williams technical director Pat Symonds says he is not aware of a loophole in next years regulations that is capable of giving a team an advantage similar to the one Brawn GP had in 2009.Brawn GP managed to win the title in its single year of competition, despite limited testing and a modest budget compared to its rivals. The team gained a significant advantage by interpreting the rules around the rear of the car differently to allow for a double-decked diffuser producing more rear downforce. Only Toyota and Williams did the same, but came up with less effective solutions.Although several other teams were aware of the loophole that allowed the double diffuser, they opted to take a literal interpretation of the regulations and started the season with a single-deck diffuser. When the FIA conceded that the double diffuser was allowed under the regulations, all teams came up with their own versions -- albeit retrofitted to their original designs. With wider tyres, wider cars and new dimensions for the diffuser, front wing and rear wing, 2017 presents a bigger overhaul of the regulations than the 2009 changes, but Symonds says he is not aware of a loophole with the same potential as the double diffuser.2009 was slightly different, he said. There was a huge discrepancy between the teams but largely because there was a somewhat twisted use of semantics to interpret a regulation that made a fantastic difference. Now that may happen again -- if it does, were in trouble because we havent seen it -- but if everything is equal, and were all interpreting the rules in a similar way, then okay, thats one thing. 2009 was different because there was this interpretation [around the double diffuser] and at Renault we asked the question could we do this and we were told no. Later it transpired the FIA said we asked the question in the wrong way -- Ive never quite understood it -- but yeah, we missed it and it was hard to get back.It was quite interesting, those of us who didnt have the double diffuser, we had half our crew in Paris arguing against it and the other half busily designing it! The week after the court of appeal, we were in China with a double diffuser. We didnt start the development after the court of the appeal, we started that a long while before.Symonds said trying to find a different interpretation of the rules has become a key part of modern Formula One car design.Thats something that is part of our jobs and I think some teams are very aggressive at it and very good at it, more so, for example, that we are at Williams. We seem to be working flat-out just doing what we need to do, but I know that other teams do have people with that fundamental job -- to look at everyone elses cars and see what they can see thats wrong with them and then look at the rules over and over again to see how you can exploit them. But when I say exploit, I dont mean cheat or anything like that, I mean just making sure that, coming back to semantics [of the rules], they think I know thats what he [the rule maker] meant, but whats he said?. Thats what it comes down to, and quite often they are not the same thing.

New York Yankees T-shirts .Y. - Nelson Mandela will be honoured by the New York Yankees with a plaque in Monument Park.Former England international goalkeeper Rob Green has spoken of his anguish at being frozen out at Queens Park Rangers over a clause in his contract. The 36-year-old has not featured in a QPRs match-day squad since New Years Day because he would trigger an extension of his current two-year deal if he plays 30 Championship matches.Green, who has been at Loftus Road since 2012, was initially viewed as a central figure in the clubs push for immediate promotion back to the Premier League this season. However, the clubs disappointing form over the first half of the campaign led to the dismissal of manager Chris Ramsey in November with QPR 13th in the Championship table. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took over as manager of QPR in December Ramseys replacement, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, informed Green that his 25th appearance of the campaign - on January 1 - would be his last for the club. With the clause in my contract that if I played up to 30 games, I would trigger another year in my contract and the club decided that wouldnt happen, Green said, speaking exclusively on Sky Sports Now.They wanted to give promotion a run at the start of the season and wanted to keep me with a view to that. Come Christmas it was fairly evident that was going to be beyond our reach. It was a disappointing moment for the club because we had really given it a go. Charlie Austin was sold by QPR to Southampton in Jaanuary Then Charlie (Austin) left in January.dddddddddddd That was another decision they had made that they wanted to keep him and try and do as much as they could. From that point on, I have not played a game. It has been a frustrating time - one that took me a little while to get my head around. Both QPR and Green were keen for him to leave the club in January but despite interest from several clubs in signing him, including Crystal Palace and West Ham, he was unable to secure a move away. The decision was made in January with a view to me hopefully getting a move in January, Green added. There were a couple of things that came about but they never came to fruition, which again was disappointing. But that is football and that is the way of the world. It is difficult in January because everyone has got their goalkeepers. Unless someone has had a bad injury or something like that, no one needs a goalkeeper in January. Robert Green (left) made 12 appearances for England He added: Having a small break from playing games has perhaps reinvigorated me for a new season, Green said. I know I am going into a summer break but I am feeling ready to go and wanting to play games. It has been a frustrating time but one where I have managed to spend time away from football and found life outside of it for the first time in 36 years. It has been positive in other ways. Also See: QPR video QPR fixtures QPR stats Get a £10 free bet here!
