BATON ROUGE, La. --- The LSU womens basketball team extended its winning streak to four straight games with an 89-41 win over Sam Houston State here in front of 4,777 fans this morning at the Maravich Center for what is referred to as the annual Field Trip Game. The Lady Tigers improve to 8-2 on the year, and are 5-1 at the PMAC so far this season. SHSU remained winless on the year with a 0-9 record. One of six Lady Tigers in double figures, Raigyne Moncrief led the way for LSU with 22 points. It was her second 22-point effort this season, and the sixth 20-point performance of her career. One game following a 5-of-15 effort from the field, Moncrief was 10-of-13 from the field against SHSU and also logged a career-high eight steals and hauled in seven rebounds. Chloe Jackson and Shanice Norton each contributed 12 points, followed by Alexis Hyders 11-point effort.Rina Hill and Tatum Neubert, in just her second game in action this year following an injury, rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points apiece. Jackson also tied Moncrief for the team lead in rebounds with seven, while also registering three assists and three steals. Norton led the Lady Tigers with four assists. This game marked the first time since the 2008 meeting against top-ranked Tennessee that six Lady Tigers have scored 10 or more points. The Lady Tigers forced 34 turnovers and scored 44 points off SHSUs miscues. It is the second-straight game that LSU has forced its opponent into 30 or more turnovers. Also for the second-straight game, LSU logged 21 steals. Every Lady Tiger who played at least 10 minutes registered at least one steal today.LSU displayed dominance to start the game as they collected eight offensive rebounds and allowed a mere five points in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers were on the scoreboard first with a three-point play by Hyder, and never trailed in the game. LSU led by as many as 51 in the final minute of the game.By halftime, LSU scored 28 of their 39 total points off of turnovers. The Lady Tigers also held the Bearcats to 39% percent shooting from the field. After an impressive first half, LSU started the second half on a 20-0 run to prevent any hopes of a comeback by SHSU. In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers shot 78 percent (14-of-18) from the field and scored 22 of their 32 points in the paint. The Bearcats didnt score in the third period until 3:57 remaining on the clock as Jada Ballew sunk two free throws. SHSU was held to just six points off a 1-of-10 effort from the field in the third quarter.Moncrief led the Lady Tigers with 16 points in the second half, and in 10 minutes of action she was perfect from the field (7-of-7) and free throw line (2-of-2). Norton also put together a nice half of action, scoring eight points in 14 minutes.LSU won the battle of the boards, 41-27, and generated 22 second-chance points to SHSUs four points. Every Lady Tiger who played scored in the game, as the LSU bench contributed 30 points in the win.Jennifer Oramas led SHSU with nine points off a 3-of-6 mark from the field. She hit three of the Bearkats six treys. SHSU was 6-of-14 from behind the arc and turned in a 7-of-10 clip from the free-throw line. This was the first time since the UC Santa Barbara game in December 2014 that LSU has kept all players of an opposing team under 10 points. The Lady Tigers will step away from the PMAC for the only game in December that is on the road when LSU faces North Carolina on a neutral court in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Dec. 18. The game is being played at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Following that meeting, LSUs final two games of the month, and of the non-conference slate, will bookend the Christmas break when LSU hosts Little Rock on Dec. 21 and Alabama State on Dec. 28.NOTES & TRENDS ? Starters for LSU were Chloe Jackson, Rina Hill, Alexis Hyder, Raigyne Moncrief & Ayana Mitchell. ? LSU is now 5-0 all-time over Sam Houston State, including a 4-0 mark in the PMAC. ? LSU has won all five games against SHSU by at least 25 points, with the largest margin of victory being todays 48-point win. Previously, LSU defeated SHSU, 92-52 (40-pt), early in the 2000-01 season. ? The 89 points scored by LSU is the most since the Lady Tigers defeated Georgia Tech, 98-78, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament held in Baton Rouge on March 23, 2014. ? Raigyne Moncrief scored 22 points today to extend her double-digit scoring streak to eight games. ? Raigyne Moncrief is the only Lady Tiger to score 20-plus points in a game this season and she has done so twice this year; and six times in her career. ? Raigyne Moncrief registered a career-high eight steals. This is the most steals for a Lady Tiger since Katrina Hibbert posted eight against #10 Florida on January 24, 1998. Only five Lady Tigers have recorded eight or more steals in a game in school history. ? With the win, head coach Nikki Fargas is 11-6 over teams from Texas in her tenure at LSU. The 11-6 record include four wins this season (Rice, UTEP, TCU, SHSU). Since the 2000-01 season, LSU is 38-10 over Texas teams and have played a team from the Lone Star State every season in that span from 2000-01 - present. In addition, LSU is 26-3 in those games played at the PMAC since 2000-01.LSU Head Coach Nikki Fargas We missed a lot of shots in the first quarter. We werent converting on turning them over, and we were missing layups. We settled in in the second half. We shot the ball extremely well in the second half. When youre shooting almost 80 percent in the third quarter, that definitely helps your overall percentage. Our goal for the game was to shoot 50 percent or better from the field. I wish we would have connected on more of those free throws in the first half, but our defensive effort really has been the reason why weve been able to win the games of the past and win this game today. On playing in front of the elementary school kids ... It was so exciting to be in this environment with all the elementary schools. When the kids are screaming and yelling, it just adds to the environment of the game.On Raigyne Moncrief and her defensive intensity ... You have a young lady who sat out a whole season, and I think shes finding her stride from a conditioning standpoint. Shes just getting stronger and stronger. Shes somebody that we go as she goes. When she picks up her defensive intensity, it trickles down into the rest of our guard play and our post play. I like how Shanice Norton has really taken on that role for us, as well as Chloe Jackson.LSU Guard Raigyne MoncriefOn what this win says about the team ... We can be a great defensive team. I think in the second half we came out trying to get steals, trying to get traps. We can be a good transition team by converting on those steals. On what to work on during the next two games ... I think just building chemistry and, once again, getting better defensively because the teams are getting better as we go on. I think thats what were doing now; focusing on the little things and correcting little things that we need to fix.LSU Guard Chloe JacksonOn what this win means going forward ... It definitely gives us a lot of confidence and momentum because UNC is a great team. Going into that game (Sunday) with the game we just had, taking what we did on defense, and then transitioning into the UNC game gives us a lot of confidence. On what to work on during the next two games ... Definitely the chemistry. I think each game were getting better and better, and definitely on the defensive end. Were just trying to finish strong going into conference play-just getting better.SHSU Head Coach Brenda Welch-Nichols LSU did a really good job on their home court. They came out, played well for their fans and it was just a fun game.Basically they did a really good job rebounding and getting put backs and that was something that we knew we had to do a better job of boxing out, keeping them off the boards. I think they did a really good job of that. Kevin Gausman Orioles Jersey . U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Jordan Siev, a lawyer for Rodriguez, wrote in a joint letter to the judge from lawyers on both sides that MLB lawyers planned to ask that the lawsuit be dismissed. Chris Davis Orioles Jersey . The home side created most of the chances but struggled to break down Braunschweigs resilient defence, resulting in the Bundesligas 1,000th scoreless draw.BOSTON -- Doc Rivers will be the next coach of the Los Angeles Clippers if the NBA approves the rare but not unprecedented trade of an active coach, a Boston Celtics official told The Associated Press on Sunday night. The deal would bring Boston a first-round draft pick in 2015, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it is pending a trade call with the NBA office. Rivers, who had three years and $21 million left on his contract with the Celtics, must also reach an agreement on a new deal with the Clippers. Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said the team had no announcement. The tentative agreement on Sunday wraps up weeks of haggling over the deal and frees Rivers from presiding over the dismantling of the team that won the franchises record 17th NBA title in 2008. The Celtics and Clippers have also discussed sending Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles in a package with Rivers for draft choices, centre DeAndre Jordan and point guard Eric Bledsoe. But NBA commissioner David Stern nixed those talks this week, saying teams arent allowed to trade active players for a coach. A deal for Garnett could still happen, but the teams would have to convince the league that it was a separate deal. The 37-year-old big man has a no-trade clause in the contract that will pay him 23.5 million over the next two years, but it is believed he would waive it to be reunited with Rivers on the West Coast. He has also discussed retiring. Boston could also cut ties with Paul Pierce, the longest-tenured member of the team, who is due to earn $15.3 million next season; he could be bought out for $5 million. Pierrce will be 36 by the 2013-14 opener and showed signs of slowing down this season, when he averaged the fewest minutes per game in his career.dddddddddddd Rivers took over the Celtics in 2004 in the midst of the longest title drought in franchise history and -- with thanks to the New Big Three of Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen -- guided them to the 2008 NBA title. They returned to the NBA Finals two years later, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. But the Celtics have regressed steadily since then, twice failing to get past the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference playoffs. This year they finished third in the Atlantic Division -- they had won it five straight times -- and lost to the New York Knicks in the first round. That convinced many that it was time to rebuild -- a process Rivers was reluctant to supervise. If the Celtics unload Garnett and Pierce, that would leave them with point guard Rajon Rondo as their only established star. Rivers had the second-longest tenure of any NBA coach to San Antonios Gregg Popovich, compiling a 416-305 record in Boston that was the third-most wins in franchise history behind Red Auerbach (795) and Tommy Heinsohn (427). He also spent four-plus seasons with the Orlando Magic and is 587-473 in all. Trades for coaches have occurred about a half-dozen times in NBA history, most recently in 2007 when the Heat received compensation for allowing Stan Van Gundy to go to the Orlando Magic. In 1983, the Chicago Bulls sent a second-round draft pick to Atlanta as compensation for coach Kevin Loughery. The Hawks used that pick to take Glenn "Doc" Rivers.
