CHICAGO -- Gordon Beckham has been waiting for his breakout offensive game. The White Sox second baseman went 3 for 4 and also hit his first homer of the season and had two RBIs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 7-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday. Beckhams breakthrough came on a murky night that began with a lengthy rain delay and played under occasional light fog at U.S. Cellular Field. "(Beckham) swung well, its part of believing in yourself and keep working at it," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said. "He hasnt gone down that path of not believing in himself. "Hes just looked better the last few times hes gone to the plate. ... Now you build off that." Left-handed starter Chris Sale (3-1) also had a solid night. He worked six innings, gave up one earned run, walked one and struck out three before left-handed reliever Will Ohman entered in the seventh. Sale was pleased with the offensive support. "The way they swung the bats tonight was fun to watch," he said. "The funnest part of tonight was watching him (Beckham) completely go off." Now hitting .190, Beckham was mired in 0-for-10 slide and was batting just .153 before he belted a solo homer in the third to give Chicago a 2-1 lead. He also singled in a run in the fifth. A.J. Pierzynski also had a solo homer for Chicago. Shelley Duncan connected for Cleveland, snapping the teams 11-game homerless streak. Steady rain postponed the start 56 minutes, but storms had passed through by early evening and the game started under cloudy, but dry conditions. Beckham sparked a four-run third inning with his leadoff drive on a 3-1 pitch from Ubaldo Jimenez. Paul Konerko made it 3-1 with a bases-loaded walk, Alex Rios drove in a run with a fielders choice and Dayan Viciedo had an RBI infield single "We just didnt play good defence, period," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "We didnt catch the ball in the air, we didnt catch the ball on the ground, we didnt cover the bases when we had to, plain and simple. We cant afford to play that kind of defence with the offence we have." Jimenez (2-2) walked six in 4 2-3 innings, and allowed seven runs, four earned, and eight hits. Duncan hit a solo drive off Ohman in the seventh. Duncan also doubled and scored on Jason Kipnis two-out double in the second, giving Cleveland a 1-0 lead. Pierzynski then hit his fifth homer in the bottom half, driving an 0-2 pitch over the wall in right. The Indians loaded the bases in the ninth, but Hector Santiago got Lou Marson to ground out to end the game. Duncan and Kipnis each had two hits for the Indians. Outfielder Johnny Damon joined the Indians in Chicago on Tuesday and is likely to be in Wednesdays lineup. "The plan was for him to spend a day with his teammates here, take batting practice and then start the game tomorrow," Acta said. The Indians said they had purchased Damons contract on Tuesday and made roster room by designating infielder Jose Lopez for assignment. Now in his 18th major league season, Damon has 2,723 hits and a .286 career batting average. He is ranked third among active players in runs scored (1,643). The 38-year-old Damon, who signed with the Indians last month, has spent the past few weeks at the clubs facility in Goodyear, Ariz. NOTES: Indians RHP Josh Tomlin (1-2, 5.48 ERA) is scheduled to pitch Wednesdays game against Philip Humber (1-1, 4.66 ERA). Humber threw a perfect game on April 21 against Seattle and struggled in a 10-3 loss against Boston last week. Micah Hyde Jersey . Off-Season Game Plan looks at a Canadiens team that has been re-energized by young talent and should have a lot of continuity going into next season. One of the most remarkable facets of Montreals success last season is that they finished with such a strong record despite subpar goaltending. Clay Matthews Jersey . With their season winding down and the playoffs out of reach yet again, what are the Raptors biggest needs this off-season? Mitch Ward: Start by dealing Andrea Bargnani for an asset the team can use like a backup point guard, a three-point shooter, some help in the post. http://www.packersproshop.us.com/Womens-Richard-Rodgers-Authentic-Jersey/ . -- Brad Peacock and Erik Bedard have made the Houston Astros rotation and will pitch the fourth and fifth games of the regular season. Mason Crosby Youth Jersey . Speculation on Luongos future with the Canucks was rampant after the veteran goaltender was benched for the second straight game in favour of backup Cory Schneider, who made 43 saves in a 3-1 win in L.A. on Wednesday night. John Kuhn Youth Jersey . Brantley also had a solo home run while Grady Sizemore belted solo shot for the Indians, who extended their home winning streak to 14 games. Its not something that were coming together before the game and saying, Come on guys lets keep the streak going.PHOENIX -- Michael Beasley says his marijuana issues are a thing of the past, that hes ready to show the Phoenix Suns that their support for him is warranted. The 6-foot-10 forward signed a three-year, $18 million contract with Phoenix on Friday, then faced questions about his past head-on at a news conference. "I realize 10 minutes of feeling good is not really worth putting my life and my career and my legacy in jeopardy," he said, "so Im confident to say that that part of my career, that part of my life, is over and wont be coming back." In June 2011, Beasley was ticketed for possessing marijuana and speeding in a Minneapolis suburb. He also has acknowledged that while playing for Miami, he twice violated the NBAs drug policy and entered a treatment facility in 2009. Beasley credits working with former NBA player Norm Nixon for getting his priorities straight. "Ive really realized my potential," Beasley said. "Ive really realized what I can do." Suns general manager Lance Blanks was effusive in his praise of Beasleys honesty as well as the unquestionable talent he brings to the rebuilding Phoenix organization. "Regardless of his past and regardless of any thoughts that people may have," Blanks said, "we are excited, I know I am excited, to embrace everything he is about and most importantly wants to be as a Phoenix Sun." Blanks and coach Alvin Gentry talked of Beasleys infectious personality. "Youre around him and you want to embrace him and you want him to do well," Gentry said. "I think everybody here will be pulling for him." Beasley, the second pick overall in the 2008 draft, played his first two seasons with Miami and the last two with Minnesota. He became a free agent when the Timberwolves declined an $8 million option too keep him.dddddddddddd There is no doubt that Beasley brings immense talent, whether he plays the small or power forward position. The former Kansas State player averaged 15.1 points per game in his four NBA seasons. He has 10 career games of 30 or more points, nine of them the past two seasons, topped by a career-high 42 against Sacramento on Nov. 10, 2010. The Suns sent Beasley a text shortly after midnight the day that contact with free agents was allowed and followed up with a trip to Los Angeles. The attention was a major factor in Beasley choosing Phoenix. "Id like to thank the organization for believing in me," he said, "giving me another chance, a better opportunity to grow as a person and a player. Like Lance said, I kind of want to take my past head-on. What happened, it happened. It happened in a growing process. Im still a young man. Im still learning today. The mistakes I made in the past are hopefully behind me. Hopefully, the Suns organization can be patient with my growing process. Im just excited to get a start, excited to play basketball." After playing in the more rigid systems of Miami and Minnesota, Beasley looks forward to running the court with the up-tempo Suns. "The run-and-gun style of offence is something that not just myself but a lot of NBA players dream of playing in," he said. "But what really drew me was that I was No. 1 on their list. That really made me feel good as a person. Phoenix is the first and only team I met with this summer. Once the meeting was over, once the day was over, I felt good about coming to Phoenix and I didnt have to meet with any other teams. I really feel like they are sincere in everything they say. ... It makes me feel good that someone actually believes in me and someone is willing to give me a chance." cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
