Winnipeg Jets 3 Philadelphia Flyers 2 (Shootout) – Andrew Ladd saw his shootout hot streak come to an end, but luckily for the Jets Ondrej Pavelec kept his going as the Jets went to a shootout for the third straight game. Perhaps the biggest news of the game; the Jets scored both goals on the power play, the first time this season they scored two in a game. The Jets were in a power play slump with one goal in the last 15 games. "The power play was a big plus," said Coach Claude Noel post-game. "We really didnt do anything different, just hit the net and they went in. It was only a matter of time." Jets have now won five of the last six games (last three by shootouts), extended their home winning streak and overall winning streak to four games and are back to a game above .500 at 10-9-2. They are 7-5-1 at MTS Centre. Jets came out strong and badly outshot the Flyers in the first five minutes, however Steve Mason was great in the Flyers goal. The Jets got on the board at 5:36 as Dustin Byfuglien beat Mason for his second of the year and first power play goal of the season. 49 seconds later off a face-off Scott Hartnell took the puck around the Jets net and banked one in off Pavelec to tie the game. Wayne Simmonds added a Flyers power play goal at 11:45 and despite the good start the Jets were down 2-1. The shots ended 13-13. There was no scoring in the second with each team having nine shots on goal. "We had some breakout trouble in the second," continued Coach Noel. The Jets were very good in the third and finally tied the game on a power play. It was Byfugliens second of the game and third of the year as the Jets power play ended the night two-for-four. A great job by Toby Enstrom to keep a clearing attempt in the Flyers zone, good hustle by Byfuglien to get to an Evander Kane pass, and then a give and go with Olli Jokinen ended with a blast from the line that beat the right handed catching Mason glove side. Jets outshot the Flyers 13-4 in the third and played the period without Zach Bogosian who left late in the second with a lower body injury. His status for Sundays game in Minnesota is not known at this time. "We were down to 5 D in the third," continued Coach Noel, "but we were patient and confident that we could score and get the game to overtime. We werent getting out of whack on momentum shifts." Pavelec also felt his team was very good in the third. "It was one of the best periods weve played this season." The Flyers had the better chances in overtime, resulting in Pavelec having to make a number of very good saves. "Pavs play has been superb," was the comment from Coach Noel. "He was good in overtime, he was tested at key times throughout the game." The shootout went as follows: Devin Setoguchi yes, Vincent Lecavalier no, Ladd no, Claude Giroux yes, Jokinen no, Matt Read no, Blake Wheeler no, Brayden Schenn no, Bryan Little yes, Kimmo Timonen no. Pavelec has now stopped 12 of 14 over the last four shootouts, all wins by the Jets. Jets are now 5-1 on the season in the shootout. Ladds streak of successful shootouts ended at seven for seven going back to last year. He had been five-for-five this season. Olli Jokenin had five shots on goal, the second time in the last three games he has hit that mark. Jokinen had two assists on the night, giving him 3-9-12 and two points short of his 7-7-14 point season of last year. Ladd also had five shots on goal, Byfuglien ended the night at 31:29 of ice time, the fifth time in his career he has played over 30 minutes. Coach Noel on Byfuglien, "hes enjoys playing the game, he plays with passion." Wheeler had six hits, Little was 60 % in the face-off department winning 15 of 25, while Jokinen won 15 of 27 for a 56% success rate. If Bogosian cant go Sunday Zach Redmond will draw in. Mark Stuart, injured in October, did skate with his teammates in the morning skate, the first time he has done that since late October. There is no time frame for his return. Same goes for the other injured players. Jets have now scored the games opening goal in five of the last seven games. Its three in four nights for the Jets with the game Sunday in Minnesota (TSN Jets, TSN 1290) and home Monday to Calgary. The home stand continues Thursday against Chicago and Saturday against Minnesota (all TSN Jets, TSN 1290). http://www.gellytefemmepascher.fr/femme-asics-gel-hyper-33-chaussures-noir-argent-bleu.html .com) - The Montreal Canadiens embark on their first road trip of the season as they head out west to battle the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. http://www.gellytefemmepascher.fr/nike-air-force-1-low-homme-7-le-chaussures-profond-bordeaux-gum-315122-610.html . PAUL, Minn.Andrew Wiggins has become a household name, largely due to the unparalleled media attention he has received. Particularly leading into the Vaughan, Ontario natives freshman year at the University of Kansas, with the ESPN Magazine and Sports Illustrated covers, a GQ feature, and SportsCentre highlights that have created an immeasurable amount of excitement - so much so, that it makes it impossible to live up to the hype. Traditionally, the early part of most NCAA programs schedules are loaded with cupcake opponents, and teams or players arent truly tested until conference play in the new year. However on Tuesday night, the State Farm Championship Classic not only pit the #4 Duke Blue Devils against the #5 Kansas Jayhawks in not only a top level match up, but featured the #1 (Wiggins) and #2 (Jabari Parker) high school recruits in the country squaring off against one another. Wiggins would face a true test to see if he was every bit as good as the hype. There would no longer be any questions, judging the ease and ability of his game against his inferior opponents. Despite what the players said, the match-up of Wiggins vs. Parker didnt disappoint for in the closely contested basketball game that showcased much more talent then the two heralded freshmen, it was still Wiggins leading his Jayhawks down the stretch to a 94-83 victory. Notwithstanding foul trouble, which kept him on the bench for much of the first half, Wiggins finished the game with 22 points and eight rebounds. His step back jumper with 1:33 left and fast break dunk seconds later started a 10-2 Jayhawks run to close out the game. He shot 9-15 from the field with many of those high percentage baskets on the break. Wiggins had eight transition points, one more than the entire Blue Devils team. While Parker had a monstrous first half with 19 points, he fouled out, trying to stop Wiggins, ironically, with 27 points and nine rebounds. Earlier in the evening, #1 ranked Kentucky fell to #2 Michigan State and UKs super freshman Julius Randle added 27 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. "Big players make big plays," Wiggins said. "I think our whole team, whoever was on the court, every possession we made a big play. Thats why we came out on top." Despite the competition, Wiggins was the biggest player of the night and much like his personality, performed with a modest display of his abilities. Hee still teases with his untapped potential, but rose to the occasion to prove that in fact, the hype is real.dddddddddddd. FIVE CANADIANS TO WATCH, THIS NCAA SEASON Unquestionably, all eyes are on Wiggins but here are five other Canadians that will garner attention this season. Nik Stauskas, Small Forward, University of Michigan (Sophomore) Last season, the Mississauga, Ontario swingman was playing in the NCAA Championship game as a freshman. The deadly 3-point shooter returns, without teammates Naismith Player of the Year Trey Burke and shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who have both gone to the NBA and will be relied upon more heavily by the Wolverines. Stauskas added 16 pounds of muscle during the offseason and committed to improving his defense. Kevin Pangos, Point Guard, Gonzaga University (Junior) Pangos is the head of the snake for the Bulldogs, and will have more work cut out for him without NBA lottery pick Kelly Olynyk. The Holland Landing, Ontario native averaged 11.9 points a game and shot .417% from the 3-point line last season. Pangos looked to improve on both sides of the ball, leading Canadas Development Team this summer. Tyler Ennis, Point Guard, Syracuse University (Freshman) As a freshman, Ennis steps into the starting line-up as Michael Carter-Williams left for the NBA, and will take the reigns of the Orangemen offense. As the only true point guard on the roster the Brampton, Ontario playmaker is known as a facilitator, but he can put the ball in the net. Ennis led the Under 19 World FIBA Championships tournament in scoring this past summer, averaging 20.9 points per game. Dwight Powell, Power Forward, Stanford University (Senior) Last season, the Toronto, Ontario native was named Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year along with All Pac-12 First Team honours averaging a team-high 14.9 points a game and 8.4 rebounds. Powell spent the summer playing on the Canadian Mens Development Team touring China and competing in the World University Games shooting 61.9% from the field and averaging 12.1 points and 5.1 rebounds. Daniel Mullings, Shooting Guard, New Mexico State (Junior) Mullings is a versatile player and a solid perimeter defender that chipped in 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game last season. He will have an expanded role this year and was voted pre-season Western Athletic Conference player of the year. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '
