Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Hogan threw for five touchdowns and No. 10 Stanford clinched a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game following a 63-13 rout of the California Golden Bears. Hogan completed 17-of-26 passes for 329 yards, Ty Montgomery had five receptions for 160 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for a score. The five TDs matches a school record. Stanford (9-2, 7-2 Pac-12) clinched a share of the Pac-12 North title. Thats because Oregon lost at Arizona on Saturday, 42-16. The Cardinal hold the tiebreaker over the Ducks by virtue of a 26-20 win on Nov. 7. Stanford has one regular season game left, next Saturday at home against Notre Dame. Jared Goff completed 10-of-19 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. Maurice Harris had two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown for California (1-11, 0-9), which lost its final 10 games of the season. Stanford stepped onto the field Saturday with a purpose. The Cardinals first possession was capped by a Montgomery 31-yard touchdown run only a minute into the contest. Goff led the Golden Bears right back when he found Harris for a 15-yard touchdown only 2:17 later. The very next play from scrimmage for the Cardinal was a Hogan 50-yard pass caught by Montgomery for a touchdown. After a stop, Stanford answered right back, the Cardinal drove 51 yards on seven plays. It was culminated with a Hogan touchdown pass to Montgomery for 12 yards. The scoring in the first quarter concluded with an 11-play 83-yard drive that was capped off with a Vincenzo DAmato 29-yard field goal. Stanford fired right back on three plays. Once again Hogan linked up with Montgomery this time for a 72-yard touchdown and took only 26 seconds. Hogan continued his dominance of the California secondary with a 45-yard TD strike to Michael Rector for a 35-10 cushion with eight minutes left in the half. The Golden Bears next drive saw their second play go for 62 yards, a pass from Goff to Richard Rodgers. Combined with an unnecessary roughness penalty, the helped Cal set up a 47-yard field goal from DAmato. Hogan threw nine yards to Montgomery for a score in the waning seconds of the half for a 42-10 cushion. Tyler Gaffney bushed off a 58-yard TD run in the third, Kelsey Young scored on a 27-yard rush early in the fourth, and Francis Owusu caught a 14-yard scoring toss from Evan Crower with under two minutes left in the game. The winless Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping a change of scenery might help Brown turn his career -- and Pittsburghs sagging season -- around. Both teams announced Wednesday that the Steelers have acquired Brown for a conditional draft pick. The 29-year-old Brown never appeared comfortable in Arizona after the Cardinals selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2007 draft, two spots ahead of Adrian Peterson. As a rookie, he started at right tackle for Arizonas 2008 Super Bowl team, then was moved to left tackle. But he never became the dominant blocker the Cardinals envisioned. After missing all of 2012 with a torn triceps, Brown was labeled an "elite" tackle by new coach Bruce Arians in the off-season. But Arians quickly lost faith in Brown as the big lineman struggled against the pass rush off the edge. He gave up three sacks to Robert Quinn in Arizonas season opener at St. Louis. "I dont think it comes as any surprise that Levi Brown was not living up to our expectations," Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said. Brown will be replaced by Bradley Sowell, claimed off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 1. Sowell played in 10 games for Indianapolis as an undrafted rookie last season, when Arians was offensive co-ordinator, then interim head coach. Arians said he expected "no drop-off at all" at the position. "The problems that have occurred I dont think will get any worse," Arians said. "Hopefully theyre going to get better, not only in pass protection but in the run game." Keim said the Cardinals had been looking to move Brown since the first week of the season. "At the end of the day, when you realized that he was not in our long-term plans," Keim said, "instead of belaboring the point and keeping him on our roster, it was just in the best interests of the organization to move and move on as quickly as possible." Regardless of Browns spotty record, the winless Steelers (0-4) desperately need help along the offensive line. Pittsburgh is off this week before travelling to New York to face the Jets on Oct. 13. While coach Mike Tomlin declined to detail what kind of role Brown would play if he joins the team, Tomlin allowed theres a chhance for Brown to make an immediate impact.dddddddddddd "Ill wait until I get an opportunity to meet him and work with him and let that be the determining factor," Tomlin said. "The great thing is that we obviously not only have a full week of work ahead of us, but we also have a Monday bonus day which we intend to take full advantage of." Center Maurkice Pouncey is out for the year with a right knee injury and second-year left tackle Mike Adams has failed to adapt to the left side. Adams played well in spots at right tackle as a rookie before being moved to left tackle in the spring. The adjustment has been rocky at best. Adams surrendered 2 1-2 sacks to Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen in a 34-27 loss to the Vikings in London last weekend and was briefly replaced by Kelvin Beachum. Offensive co-ordinator Todd Haley, who coached Brown while serving in the same position with Arizona in 2008, declined to talk about the trade, but acknowledged the line play in Pittsburgh hasnt been anywhere close to acceptable. The Steelers have allowed 15 sacks through four games. Only Miami, Jacksonville and Cleveland gave up more during September. "Its not just left tackle, its across the board," Haley said. "Weve got to be better everywhere. Weve got to be better getting rid of the football. Weve got to be better blocking, the backs, everybody. When youre getting pressure, it takes everybody, and everybodys got to do a better job." The Steelers have serious salary cap issues, though Brown does come at a bit of a discount. Pittsburgh will pick up the remaining $3.6 million of Browns contract. He will count for a $4.2 million cap hit for the Cardinals in 2014. Brown figures to step in for Adams rather than move over to right tackle, where Marcus Gilbert has shown signs of progress. "I think the coaches feel comfortable with where Im at now, so they dont want to make a move now that Im getting better every week," Gilbert said. "So, I guess Ill be sticking to the right side right now. "Everybodys looking to get better and to improve our offence. We know that theres going to be changes, but we have to keep getting better and try to turn this thing around right now." The Steelers released cornerback Isaiah Green to make room for Brown.
