Situated at the highest point of the island in Es Mercadal is Monte Toro at 352 metres. The peak’s name originated from the Arabic word, al-tor, meaning highest mountain (naturally!). Legend has it that a bull (el toro) apple laptop had found a statue of the Virgin by a rock. At the top of this peak, Franciscan nuns still live in the convent, which is open to the public from the first Sunday in May. Monte Toro is an important pilgrimage site, with the focus on the statue of Virgin Mary. Driving up here can be a nerve-wracking experience because of the steep winding roads, but it’s all worth it when you get to the top when you're greeted by magnificent views.

Port de Maó

This port in Mahon is one of the most spectacular and impressive natural harbours in the Mediterranean. It stretches 5km inland and is lined with quaint little restaurants, boutiques carrying fashionable clothes, and trendy bars. Your visit to the island will not be complete until you've spent a lovely evening at the waterfront, admiring the yachts with a drink or two. Cuitadella

A settlement over 2000 years old, Cuitadella used to be the capital city of Menorca. As you walk around the winding, narrow lanes of this town, you might at times wonder if you have stepped back in time. Very much like a North African city, because of its colourful and long heritage, it makes for a pleasant afternoon to walk around the area and discover the many interesting details. Don't miss the cathedral, an imposing structure that was built on the site of a mosque in the early town.

The Bay of Fornells

If you are a snorkelling fan, this is one place you must visit. Crystal clear waters and rich and diverse marine life makes this an ideal location strapping on a mask and flippers and exploring the shallows. Other fun activities like windsurfing and kayaking are also available. If you are not into water sports, sit back and admire the view with some company and a few drinks before heading back to your villa in Menorca for dinner.
