Hopefully we can start building on that  发帖心情 Post By:2014-12-19 15:01:17

MONTREAL -- Marco Di Vaio wasted no time in connecting with his new fan base on Monday. Troy Polamalu Elite Jersey . Di Vaio made his first comments in French, his second language, after the Montreal Impact introduced their newly-signed Italian striker as the Major League Soccer teams first designated player. The Serie A veteran was touched when he and his family were greeted by a crowd of some 150 Impact fans upon arrival at Trudeau International Airport on Sunday night. He decided to return that courtesy by reaching out in French as soon as the opportunity presented itself. "Merci, beaucoup," Di Vaio said at Mondays introductory news conference. "Bonjour tout le monde." The 36-year-old Italian internationals wife and daughter looked on as Di Vaio continued to speak in measured but comfortable French, thanking Bologna, his former team in the top Italian league, for allowing him to leave to play in Montreal. "Its an honour for me to be here to work with the Impact in the MLS," said Di Vaio, who flew with his family via London. "Its not easy for me right now but I hope my French will get a little bit better." Di Vaio then alternated between French and Italian throughout the press conference at the Impacts downtown offices. Di Vaio, who scored 142 goals in 342 games in Serie A, joins fellow Italians Matteo Ferrari and Bernardo Corradi, the latter who is expected to team with his countryman up front. "I know they brought me here to score goals," Di Vaio said in Italian, with his comments translated into French by Impact sporting director Nick De Santis. "Ive done that throughout my whole career and thats the challenge in front of me. Im excited about everything to do with building up a new team together. I want to be a part of this team, not just as an individual but as part of the group, as well." Di Vaio will take a two-week vacation with his family in Florida. He will be eligible to play for Montreal when the international transfer window opens on June 27. "I could have probably stayed and played at the highest level in Italy," Di Vaio said. "I felt that it was time for me to move away and try something new. The Italian championship is very demanding and I just felt that there was a new experience that I wanted to try." The team store had an Impact "Di Vaio" No. 9 jersey on display. "I want to thank Marco and his family as well for believing in the Impact," said team owner Joey Saputo. Having noted that he had delivered on his promise of signing a designated player, Saputo offered a fans perspective assessment of Di Vaio. "He happens to be at the right place at the right time in order to score the right goals," Saputo said. Two days after seeing his team drop a second game in a row with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss at Colorado, head coach Jesse Marsch was all smiles about his newest player. "For our team I think hes the perfect fit," Marsch said. "We need somebody in the attacking third that can really make sense of things and ultimately score goals. And the person that Marco is cant be remissed either because he has shown such great interest in being here. "He has already talked about how important it is to be part of a club and what thats meant for his experience at Bologna, and I know that hell add to us in that way, which I think is extremely important and cant be forgotten." Marsch expects that Di Vaio will not have a difficult transition to playing in the MLS. "Hes an incredibly intelligent player and I think more than anything thats the quality that he has. He figures out the game, he knows how to slow things down, around the goal hes quite remarkable so I think there will be an adjustment period for both him and for the team, but I expect the transition to be fairly smooth based on the fact that its still football." Whats key for Di Vaio is that its a type of soccer that he wanted to experience for himself. "I wanted to see this new soccer," Di Vaio said. "Theyre speaking a lot about MLS and North American soccer in Europe and I want this new challenge." Cameron Heyward Gold Jersey . - Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob says the team is pushing back plans to build an arena on the San Francisco waterfront at least one year. Lynn Swann Womens Jersey . First reported by FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal, its unknown if the impetus for the deferral proposal came from players or management, but it never left the preliminary stages. SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Buffalo Sabres got the lead for a change, and held onto it thanks to a stellar performance in goal by Jhonas Enroth. Steve Ott scored the go-ahead goal, Enroth made 44 saves and the Sabres beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 Friday night to win for just the second time in 12 games and break a three-game losing streak. Rasmus Ristolainen and Cody Hodgson also scored for Buffalo. Coming into the game, the Sabres (2-9-1) had led for only 9 minutes, 35 seconds this season, in their game against Tampa Bay on Oct. 8. Their other win was in a shootout against the New York Islanders on Oct. 15. Enroth withstood a steady barrage from the Panthers, who took a season-high 45 shots. He only stumbled once when Jesse Winchester batted the puck out of the air in front and into the net for Floridas goal. "I think I played a pretty perfect game . well, it was a perfect game, that goal they scored is one out of a hundred I think, so it was a good game for me," Enroth said. "I dont think they can do that play over again." The Sabres went ahead 2-1 at 12:42 in the third on Otts goal. Christian Ehrhoff took a shot from the point and Ott was able to tip it past Jacob Markstrom. Hodgson scored an empty-net goal with 47 seconds left. "That was a huge goal for us to score in the third," Enroth said. "Usually we give up the goal with a couple minutes left. . Hopefully we can start building on that. This is a special feeling, winning the game instead of losing when you play good." Markstrom stopped 18 shots in the Panthers fifth loss in six games. The Sabres tied it 1-all on Ristolainens goal at 13:32 of the second period. The 18-year-old rookie got his first NHL goal on a slap shot from the right circle that got past Markstrom. "We were able to get a couple point shots through there, that was big, and on both goals we had some good net presence," Sabres coaach Ron Rolston said. Jarvis Jones Womens Jersey. "We were fortunate to get those two and the guys turned in a real good third." Besides Ristolainen, the Sabres played three other players that are teenagers: Mikhail Grigorenko (19) Zemgus Girgensons (19) and Nikita Zadorov (18). "Theyve done a good job. . I like where are young guys are right now and where theyre going and where were heading," Rolston said. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead on Winchesters goal in the first period. Sean Bergenheim passed from the left circle across to Winchester, who was able to tip in the puck high into the net at 13:58 for his second goal of the season. It was Bergenheims first NHL point since April 26, 2012, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against New Jersey. "It was a pretty simple play. I just drove the net and hit it out of the air," Winchester said. "It wasnt pretty, but it was great to see Bergy get in on it, especially so early on in the game." Bergenheim played two games in Finland during the lockout last year, but has spent 18 months recovering from multiple surgeries on his abdomen, groin and hip. The Panthers outshot the Sabres 18-4 in the first period, and led in shots 34-14 at the end of the second. "There was a lot of hard work put into the game and theres no reward at all. Theres no points," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "At the end of the day, were all about the two points. On that one, its not a good night." NOTES: Buffalo C Cody McCormick, sidelined with a leg injury since Oct. 19, returned to the ice on Friday. . D Mike Weber sustained an upper body injury. .
