Real Madrid are set to be the centre of attention as the fourth edition of the Peace Cup takes place over the coming 10 days.

Twelve teams from around the globe are participating in the pre-season tournament, including Juventus, Porto, Lyon, Sevilla and Aston Villa, but most eyes will be on Madrid following their remarkable summer overhaul.

Following the return of Florentino Perez to the club presidency in June, Madrid have made huge changes throughout the club, including bringing in a new coach in Manuel Pellegrini and spending almost £200million on four new players.

The new-look Madrid, including world-record signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, have already tasted action after beating Shamrock Rovers 1-0 in their opening pre-season friendly on Monday Wholesale Basket Lebron XI.

However, that match took place in Dublin as part of the club's training camp in Ireland, and it will be the upcoming Peace Cup that offers the majority of Madrid fans their first chance to see the some of their new stars in action.

Madrid's opening match is against Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad on Sunday at the Bernabeu, and the Primera Division giants will then play host to the other team in Group B, Liga de Quito of Ecuador, next Tuesday.

Ronaldo admitted after the match against Shamrock that he was eagerly looking forward to the chance to make his home debut for Madrid, saying: "I want to play at the Bernabeu on Sunday. It will be a very special moment for me."

Although Ronaldo and Benzema, who scored the only goal against Shamrock and was also named Most Valuable Player after helping Lyon win the Peace Cup in 2007, look set to feature on Sunday, Madrid's fans may have to wait a while longer to see their other two summer signings, Kaka and Raul Albiol.

Those two players, along with Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, have been given extra time off due to their commitments at the Confederations Cup this summer and are not scheduled to return until next week.

The three previous editions of the Peace Cup were staged in South Korea, with Lyon winning in 2007 and also finishing runners-up in 2005 and 2003.

This year's event will be played in the Andalusian venues of Seville, Huelva, Jerez and Malaga, as well as Madrid, and begins tomorrow night with the matches between Liga de Quito and Al-Ittihad, and Sevilla against Juventus.

There are four groups with three teams in each, of which the top team goes through to the semi-finals, to be played on Friday, July 31. The final takes place on Sunday, August 2 in Seville.

The 12 competing teams are:

Group A: Sevilla, Juventus, Seongnam.

Group B: Real Madrid, Liga de Quito, Al-Ittihad Lebron On Sale Online.

Group C: Malaga, Aston Villa, Atlante.

Group D: Lyon, Besiktas, Porto.
