Pavelec up high to make it 3-0. The Jets have only scored three second period goals themselves all = season and were held without on Sunday. Evander Kane go  发帖心情 Post By:2014-12-24 17:39:35

The drama begins Friday when the Czech Republic and Montenegro square off in the first match of a two-leg Euro 2012 qualifier, with the winner set to advance to next summers tournament in Poland and Ukraine. When the Czech Republic was drawn into Group I, the prospect of automatic advancement into the Euro 2012 main tournament was considered to be a long shot. With Spain, the defending Euro as well as World Cup Champion, as the seeded team in the group the Czechs would need to pull a stunning upset to be one of the 12 group stage qualifiers. Their campaign got off to a rough start when they were defeated 1-0 by Lithuania at their home ground in the opening match. Following that defeat they welcomed Scotland to Synot Tip Arena in Prague where they picked up their first three points in a 1-0 victory on a Roman Hubnik goal. They picked up another three points in their first road game, a trip to Liechtenstein where two first half goals were enough to lead them to a 2-0 victory. Heading into their first match up with Spain they were in decent form and it showed as they broke out on top with a 29th minute goal from Jaroslav Plasil. Unfortunately the home side received second half goals from David Villa, the second from the penalty spot, and confirmed their place as the top team in the group. Czech Republic started their return matches by welcoming Liechtenstein and sending them off with an identical 2-0 defeat as it delivered them in the first game, this time kicked off with a third minute goal by Milan Baros. The great run continued with a 2-0 home victory over Lithuania in March which basically left them in a race for second with Scotland and in shouting distance of first place in the Group If they were able to shock the defending champs. The key group match turned out to be their game at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Scotland, for whom this had become a must win game, jumped out to a lead just before the halftime whistle. After Plasil equalized for the visitors, Scotland once again jumped ahead and looked to secure themselves maximum points. However, Jan Rezek was fouled in the area as extra time approached and Michal Kedic converted the penalty to earn a point and keep the Czechs five points clear of Scotland in Group I competition. They closed out their campaign with a victory over Lithuania and a loss to Spain to earn themselves a place in the two-leg knockout stage qualifier. Due to playing in a five team group all of their games counted towards their ranking and 13 points placed them sixth among second place teams. Kedic led the Czech Republic with four goals during the qualifying stages and Hubnik is suspended for the first leg of qualifying due to being sent off in the 67th minute of their group finale with Lithuania. Their opponents in the home-and-home series took a much different path to the two-legged knockout stage. Drawn into Group G, Montenegro, which does not have the fire power the Czech Republic can boast at times, took a much more defensive stance and it paid off in their early matchups. They opened with a 1-0 defeat of Wales where they slammed the door shut following a Mirko Vucinic goal in the 30th minute. After winning on home soil, UEFAs newest addition traveled to Bulgaria where a 35th minute marker allowed them to once again settle into a defensive posture and claim an impressive six-point start to the qualifying campaign. Heading into Wembley Stadium for their match against England, Montenegro were considered underdogs to even leave with a point. However they were able to do exactly that, frustrating the home side into a 0-0 draw. Wayne Rooney almost stole the points twice for England in the second half but at the full-time whistle the two sides remained tied at the top of Group G. The door opened a little for Montenegro in June when England were held for their second straight contest by Switzerland but their defensive posture could not hold up after they took the lead against Bulgaria. After a Radomir Djalovic opener for Montenegro, Ivelin Popov struck back for Bulgaria as the teams finished tied 1-1. In September Montenegro were forced to play from behind for the first time as they gave up two first half goals at Wales. In the second half their offensive attack was only able to recover one of the goals and they lost for the first time in the competition dropping them into second place behind England. Two goal deficits became the order of the day once again when they faced England for the second time as they gave up markers to Ashley Young and Darren Bent in the first 30 minutes of the contest. However this time they struck back with an Elsad Zverotic marker just before the half and an extra time header from Andrija Deliba?ic earned the draw. The point was enough to secure Montenegros place in the knockout stage but winning the group was out of reach. They finished with a 2-0 loss to Switzerland in their final game. Vucinic and Zverotic each had two goals to lead Montenegros scoring attack but very clearly heading into the home-and-home with the Czech Republic they will be counting on the goalkeeping of Mladen Bo?ovic to help them qualify for Euro 2012. The Czech Republic will host the first leg of this competition and will hope to use their fire power to overwhelm the less experienced Montenegro side. If they cant, look for a very tight second game as Montenegro will hope to use their strong defensive play to advance. wholesale jerseys . Nashville will play in Minnesota on Tuesday while the Jets close out their six-game home stand against Washington (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). The Jets and Preds then meet again Thursday in Nashville (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). There was no scoring in the first period despite the Jets outshooting Nashville 15-12. It was the first time this season the Jets outshot their opponent in the opening period. The Jets went on a power play early in the second, only to see Eric Nystrom score a short-handed goal for the Predators. Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien had a shot blocked by Nystrom on the play, creating a two-on-one for Nashville. It was the first shorthanded goal the Jets have allowed this season and the first Nashville has scored. The second period struggles continued for the Jets on Sunday night as Patric Hornqvist picked off an Ondrej Pavelec clearing attempt, fired the puck towards the net and had it go off the skates of Zach Bogosian and in, giving Nashville a 2-0 lead. Later in the period, and just seconds after the Jets killed off a penalty, Matt Cullen beat Pavelec up high to make it 3-0. The Jets have only scored three second period goals themselves all = season and were held without on Sunday. Evander Kane got the Jets on the board midway through the third period, netting his fifth of the season to make it 3-1 but thats as close as Winnipeg would get. Kane finished the game with 10 shots on goal, the second 10-shot game oof his career.dddddddddddd Unlike Friday there was no Jets comeback as Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton stopped 38-of-39 shots for his first NHL win. The Jets are now 4-5 on the season and 3-4 at home and Kane felt despite some bad bounces that the team needed a better effort. "You have to battle through, show some character," he said. Pavelec meanwhile had this to say after the game: "the way we play some nights. We cant be successful." As for Coach Claude Noel, he again cautioned about using the shots on goal to judge the game. "We got shots but we didnt create enough. We didnt battle to get the second shot," he said. "We didnt have enough A games from our group, at times we played just to play. You have to be more emotionally connected to the game." Byfuglien ended the night with seven shots on goal on a team high 27:18 of ice time. The Jets were without Jim Slater, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Chris Thorburn because of injuries, while Eric Tangradi was a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Devin Setoguchi, a healthy scratch Friday, was back in the lineup and assisted on the Kane goal. Adam Pardy, up from St. Johns, was very solid in 13:38 of ice time. Tuesday against Washington will be Hockey Fights Cancer Night. All Jets players will wear a special edition lavender Jets jersey during the pre-game warm up. Fans that purchased raffle tickets over the past number of home games will have a chance to win one of the jerseys. Tickets will be on sale at Tuesdays game. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
