e first left-handed starter to begin the season 10-0 since Ron Guidry went 13-0 for the N  发帖心情 Post By:2016-11-30 22:02:15

WASHINGTON -- Neither Charlie Manuel nor Jimmy Rollins can remember a stretch quite like the one Philadelphia is enduring now. Stephen Strasburg pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 in the first complete game of his career, Jayson Werth had his second straight three-hit game and the Washington Nationals completed a three-game sweep with a 6-0 victory over the Phillies on Sunday night. Outscored 23-7 over the weekend, Philadelphia has lost 17 of 20. The Phillies never had a runner in scoring position during their 11th straight road loss. "Its been tough," Manuel said. "Since Ive been managing in the major leagues, this is definitely the toughest stretch weve ever had." The sweep denied Manuel the 1,000th win of his managing career. At 52-65, the Phillies are three games behind the third-place Mets in the NL East and open a three-game series Monday in Atlanta. "Id have to go back and look, but I dont think Ive ever had a stretch like this either," shortstop Rollins said. "Weve had some stretches where we lost some games in a row, but wed find a way to put some wins in a row right after that. But it isnt happening right now." Kevin Frandsen had two of the Phillies four hits. Philadelphia had not been swept by the Nationals-Expos franchise in a series of three games or more since losing a four-game series from August 25-28, 2003, while in Montreal. "Some games were losing were getting outplayed, but some games were not making the right plays," Rollins said. "Were not making pitches, were not getting the hits, and that makes it very tough when youre out there playing and youre battling and you hope to come up with the big hit. Sometimes you will, sometimes you wont. We havent at all." Strasburg (6-9) dominated the reeling Phillies for his first win since July 7 against San Diego. The Nationals had lost five straight games started by the right-hander. "Hed get ahead of us with either his fastball or his breaking ball. Hes tough," Manuel said. "His breaking ball really set up his fastball later in the middle innings until the end of the game. He was good. Power when he wanted it." Washington scored two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth against Kyle Kendrick (10-9), who surrendered 11 hits -- all singles -- over 5 1-3 innings. Making his fourth start against the Nationals this season, Kendrick allowed six runs, four earned. Hes 3-5 in his last eight starts with a 7.07 ERA. "Its just been frustrating the last few starts for me," Kendrick said. Werth, who had a go-ahead, two-run homer among his three hits Saturday, delivered an RBI single in the first inning to give Washington a 1-0 lead. Steve Lombardozzi also had three hits, including an RBI single. In between wins, Strasburg went 0-3 with 4.93 ERA in five starts. Two of Strasburgs six victories on the season have come against the Phillies. Strasburgs biggest stress came starting the second inning. He winced after throwing a second straight ball to Domonic Brown, leading to a visit from the Nationals training staff. After walking Brown on four pitches -- the only walk he issued -- Strasburg struck out Darin Ruf and Cody Asche on his way to retiring 14 of the next 15 batters. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in 11 of 13 home starts. "It felt good," Strasburg said of finishing the game. "Its something that you try and do every time out. Ive learned how to go out there and get outs with less pitches." Wilson Ramos and Denard Span each had RBI singles in the fourth inning. Chase Utleys throwing error in the fifth allowed two runners to score. Lombardozzi tacked on an RBI single for the Nationals third run of the inning. Notes: Philadelphias last road win came July 19 at Cincinnati in its first game after the All-Star break. ... Brown has a six-game hitting streak. . The Phillies road trip continues at Atlanta on Monday with LHP Cole Hamels (4-13, 3.81 ERA) facing RHP Julio Teheran (9-5, 2.96). Wholesale Jerseys Online . "I didnt need to be anybody else, I just needed to be myself and be aggressive," said Burks, who scored a career-high 34 points to spark the Utah Jazz to a 118-103 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.PHOENIX - The Miami Marlins managed three hits off the Arizona Diamondbacks. Two of them were booming home runs off the bat of Giancarlo Stanton. That was the difference in the Marlins 3-2 victory on Monday night, the Diamondbacks fourth loss in a row. Patrick Corbin, trying to become the first left-handed starter in 35 years to go 10-0, allowed two hits through eight innings but gave up a soaring, two-run homer to left by Stanton that tied the game at 2 in the sixth. Stantons line-drive home run to right off ex-Marlin Heath Bell (2-1) in the ninth put Miami ahead for the first time. It was the 100th homer of his career, and sixth in 43 at-bats at Chase Field. "He took that thing over, didnt he?" Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "Yeah, that was an impressive, impressive night for him." Stanton, activated June 10 after six weeks on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain, said both were good pitches. "Just help the team win, man," Stanton said. "Thats what I didnt do all April and obviously all May I wasnt playing." Redmond said he expected an adjustment period for Stanton when he came off the DL. "And there really wasnt," the manager said. "He came off the DL swinging the bat great. You could just see he was more confident. His swing was better, everything was better. Hes been lights out ever since." Bell pitched all of last season for Miami, and Stanton was asked if his familiarity with the relievers pattern helped him in the at bat. "Yeah," Stanton said, "for the most part." Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said its time to reassess how to pitch to Stanton. "The guy is swinging the bat good. We have to find a better way to get around him," Gibson said. "You can see how strong he is. He just barrelled it." Mike Dunn (2-1) threw a scoreless eighth inning to get the win. Steve Cishek pitched a perfect ninth for his 10th save in 12 tries. Willie Bloomquist flied out to deep centre to end the game. Paul Goldschmidt drove in both Arizona runs with a homer and a single. Corbin, with no decisions in his last three starts, was trying to become the first left-handed starter to begin the season 10-0 since Ron Guidry went 13-0 for the New York Yankees in 1978, according to STATS.dddddddddddd Corbin struck out seven and walked one but the Diamondbacks lost for the first time in his 14 starts. Gibson said Corbin deserved better. "Patrick was great," Gibson said. "He pitched his heart out, two runs. We scored eight runs in four games. ... We should have had several runs tonight. We are in a bad spot at the plate right now. Guys are trying to do too much. " Arizona was 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position. "More of the same," Gibson said. Goldschmidt, hitless in his previous 12 at-bats and just 3 for 33, lined Jacob Turners 1-0 pitch over the right-field fence to put Arizona up 1-0 in the third, his 16th home run. The Diamondbacks made it 2-0 in the fifth when Gerardo Parra singled, stole second and scored when Goldschmidt singled sharply to centre. Goldschmidt leads the NL with 61 RBIs. Corbin, meanwhile, was cruising through five. Only two Miami batters reached during that span, Stanton on third baseman Martin Prados two-out error in the first and a two-out walk to Marcell Ozuna in the fourth. In the sixth, pinch-hitter Justin Ruggiano grounded out, but Juan Pierres opposite-field single to left ended the no-hit bid. Ed Lucas popped out but Stanton hit a high drive on Corbins 2-0 pitch into the second deck above the Arizona bullpen in left and it was tied at 2. The Diamondbacks, swept in three games at San Diego last weekend, opened a six-game homestand. Turner allowed two runs and six hits in five innings. NOTES: Diamondbacks RHP Ian Kennedy dropped his appeal and began serving a 10-game suspension for his role in last weeks brawl with the Dodgers. ... Arizona RHP Randall Delgado, who came over from Atlanta in the Justin Upton trade, will be recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Tuesday night in the spot normally taken by RHP Brandon McCarthy. Miami RHP Nathan Eovaldi, out all season with right shoulder inflammation, will make his first start of the year. To make room for Eovaldi, the Marlins optioned Ozuna to Double-A Jacksonville. ... McCarthy, out with a shoulder injury, threw off a mound and could get a rehab start next. McCarthy says a seizure, related to the head injury he sustained from a line drive last September, will not affect his comeback. Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
