Winnipeg (20-12) scored single runs in four different innings to defeat the Sioux Falls Pheasants (17-15) 4-1 Wednesday afternoon in front of 3,413 fans, consisting mostly of school children, at Sioux Falls Stadium. With the win, the Goldeyes finished the seven-game road trip with a 2-5 record, but avoided being swept in Sioux Falls and return home with a three-game lead in the American Associations North Division over the Pheasants. When the Goldeyes left last week, they had a three-and-a-half-game lead. The Goldeyes opened the scoring in the third inning on a Jon Weber RBI single and made it 2-0 in the fourth inning on a Luis Alen solo home run. The Pheasants cut Winnipegs lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Goldeyes replied with runs in the seventh and ninth inning, including a solo home run from Chris Roberson in the ninth inning.
