(Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators will try to rebound from their first regulation loss of the new year when they visit the rival Toronto Maple Leafs for tonights Northeast Division battle at Air Canada Centre. The Senators had won four straight and posted an 8-0-1 record through nine games heading into Mondays home test against Winnipeg, but the Jets recorded a 2-0 decision to deal Ottawa its first regulation setback since Dec. 27. Ottawa enters tonight tied with Philadelphia for fourth in the Eastern Conference and is also seven points ahead of the Maple Leafs for second in the Northeast. Mondays defeat marked the first time Ottawa has been shut out this season. Chris Mason made 25 saves to help the Jets stop a three-game losing streak. Ottawas Craig Anderson took the loss, giving up two goals on 35 shots. "We didnt bring our best, but I think we gave ourselves the opportunity to win," said Anderson. Prior to Mondays game at Scotiabank Place, the Senators had played three straight on the road and tonights tilt marks the start of a six-game swing that will take Ottawa through the end of the month. The Sens are 11-7-5 as the visitor this season. The Senators will ice the same lineup they used in last nights loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs began January on a four-game winning streak, but Ron Wilsons club has lost its last two tilts, including Saturdays shutout setback against the visiting New York Rangers. That 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Rangers kicked off Torontos longest homestand of the season. The Leafs will try to improve upon their 12-6-4 as the host when they play the second test of the five-game residency tonight. New York goaltender Martin Biron needed to make just 20 saves to shut down Torontos offense Saturday at the Air Canada Centre. Jonas Gustavsson, meanwhile, allowed all three goals on 30 shots for the Maple Leafs. "I thought we came out flat a little bit," Toronto forward Clarke MacArthur said. "At this time of year theres no excuse for that. It was a big game for us and we got to have a better effort." Toronto is currently outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture with 49 points. The Leafs are ninth in the East and one point behind Pittsburgh for the conferences eighth and final postseason berth. The Maple Leafs get centerman Tyler Bozak back tonight after he missed the last seven games with an upper-body injury. Bozak has seven goals and 18 assists this season and before getting injured he had been centering Torontos top line with wingers Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul. James Reimer will get the start in net for the Maple Leafs, Jay Rosehill will replace Nazem Kadri up front and Jake Gardiner will play on defence but the pairings will be a game-time decision. Forward Darryl Boyce is out with a minor injury. After dropping a 6-5 regulation decision to the Maple Leafs on Oct. 8, Ottawa has posted two straight victories in this series. The Senators have won five of eight overall in this matchup and three of the last four in Toronto. Nike Free 3.0 V2 Womens UK . LeMond posted an open letter on his Facebook page Wednesday night that asked those who care about cycling to join him in telling International Cycling Union President Pat McQuaid and honorary president Hein Verbruggen to step down. LeMonds letter came after the UCI stripped Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles and banned him for life on Monday for his involvement in what a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report described as a massive doping program. Verbruggen led world cycling from 1991-2005, the era when Armstrong won his titles, and retains a seat on the UCI management board. He is still perceived in the sport as a mentor to McQuaid, who succeeded him. LeMond, the Tour winner in 1986, 89 and 90, said the problem for cycling is not drugs but corruption. The only American remaining on the 99-year Tour list of champions told McQuaid: "Pat in my opinion you and Hein are the corrupt part of the sport." McQuaid, an Irishman whose second term as UCI president expires in September, said Monday he had no intention of resigning over the systematic drug scandals that have ruined the sports credibility. "I believe that there are many, maybe most that work at the UCI that are dedicated to cycling, they do it out of the love of the sport, but you and your buddy Hein have destroyed the sport," LeMond said. "You know ... well what has been going on in cycling, and if you want to deny it, then even more reasons why those who love cycling need to demand that you resign." Verbruggen declined to respond to LeMonds comments when contacted by The Associated Press. LeMond won support from Pedro Delgado, the 19888 Tour winner, who used his Twitter account to post a headline that said corruption was a bigger problem for cycling than drugs.dddddddddddd "Totally agree with my ex-rival Lemond," Delgado wrote. The UCI and its leaders have reacted to previous corruption accusations by filing defamation suits against Floyd Landis, who was stripped of the 2006 Tour title for doping and was a key witness in the USADA case, and Paul Kimmage, an Irish journalist and Tour rider in LeMonds era. McQuaid has refused to back down from suing Kimmage over accusations that cyclings leaders protected Armstrong. The case is scheduled to be heard in Vevey, Switzerland, on Dec. 12. "This is about a journalist who accused me, and my predecessor and the UCI of being corrupt. Its a straightforward defamation case," McQuaid said Monday at a news conference called to confirm sanctions against Armstrong. McQuaid, Verbruggen and the UCI announced this month they had won a similar defamation case against Landis -- and damages of 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,667) each -- after the former Armstrong teammate made similar allegations. Landis was not served with papers in the case and it is unclear if the judgment carries any weight outside Switzerland. LeMond is backing Kimmages legal battle, which has become a lightning rod of cycling fans anger at how the sports image is being shattered. A defence fund created by two cycling news websites has raised more than $73,000 to pay Kimmages legal fees. "I would encourage anyone that loves cycling to donate and support Paul in his fight against Pat and Hein and the UCI," LeMond wrote. "I donated money for Pauls defence, and I am willing to donate a lot more, but I would like to use it to lobby for dramatic change in cycling. "The sport does not need Pat McQuaid or Hein Verbruggen." cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
