Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Hanley Ramirez and Logan Morrison provided home runs behind Ricky Nolascos second career shutout, as the Florida Marlins beat the Oakland Athletics, 3-0. The teams have traded shutouts to begin the three-game series, with Oaklands Gio Gonzalez helping to silence the Marlins in a 1-0 decision on Tuesday. Nolasco (5-4) showed equally dominant stuff to even the set, scattering five hits and two walks while fanning three in the fifth complete game of his career. Three of the Marlins four wins this month have come in the last seven games. Guillermo Moscoso (2-4) took the loss despite striking out eight in a six- inning start. He gave up four hits and did not walk a batter. Only one of the three runs Moscoso allowed was earned because Cliff Penningtons error on the first at-bat of the game allowed Emilio Bonifacio to reach base. Two outs later, Ramirez went deep to straightaway center for his first home run since May 21. Morrison added a solo shot to right in the fourth, the first earned run Moscoso allowed in four starts. Mike Stanton went 0-for-4 at the plate, but helped his starter in the field when he came down with Penningtons deep fly drive to right in the sixth, as he crashed into the wall while making the grab to take away a potential extra- base hit. Nolasco needed 98 pitches to get through eight innings and worked around a two-out single in the ninth to finish off his gem and snap Oaklands six-game home winning streak.
