OTTAWA (CIS) - Windsor quarterback Austin Kennedy, Saskatchewan linebacker Tony Michalchuk and Alberta kick returner Jess Valleau were named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport football players of the week on Wednesday. Kennedy, a second-year business major from Windsor, Ont., was honoured on offence after he racked up a remarkable 443 yards and five touchdowns through the air and 112 yards on the ground last Saturday to lead the visiting Lancers (2-0) to a come-from-behind, 41-40 upset of Wilfrid Laurier (1-1), which was ranked eighth nationally going into the contest. The sophomore connected with Cory Fernandes on 16 yards with just over a minute left in regulation to tie the game at 40-40 and then rushed for 40 yards to the Laurier 18 on his teams final drive to set up the winning rouge as time expired. The Lancers, who earned the final Top 10 spot following the dramatic victory, host No. 7 McMaster (1-1) on Saturday night.
