At that point in time, I was just like, I cant miss these free throws." Gordon Hayward had a chance to tie it with 28.7 seconds to play, but missed the second of two free throw  发帖心情 Post By:2015-6-28 13:38:27

Ten games down and eight to go in the CFL season and its a good time to look back on the first half of the season. As all eight teams gear up for the second-half run to the playoffs, lets examine the top performers through 10 games and hand out some mid-season awards. Today we look at the top Canadians so far this season? Who is the Most Outstanding Canadian Player at mid-season? Dave Stala, Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Stala is becoming a household name for his touchdown celebrations, but his ball-kicking antics wouldnt get the recognition if the nine-year veteran didnt keep finding the end zone. Stala is second on the Ticats with 30 catches for 418 yards through 10 games, but it is his seven touchdown catches that makes him stand out in Hamilton. Stala is also carving out a niche as quarterback Kevin Glenns go-to receiver on third down. Chris Getzlaf, Saskatchewan Roughriders: When Andy Fantuz left to try his luck in the CFL, and Rob Bagg was lost to injury for the season, the Roughriders needed a Canadian pass catcher to step up. Getzlaf answered the bell. Hes third on the team in receptions with 26 for 495 yards, and has found the end zone seven times. Even with Fantuz back for the Roughriders latest game, Getzlaf continued to perform, catching two touchdowns against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Shawn Gore/Akeem Foster, BC Lions: While veteran import Geroy Simon remains the man in BC, Gore and Foster are putting together very solid seasons with the Lions and both have a chance to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark. Gore has more receptions and yards than Foster (40 catches for 561 yards compared to 25 catches for 451 yards) but while Gore has yet to find the end zone this season, Foster has five touchdown catches. Gore and Foster have kept first-round draft pick Marco Iannuzzi on the bench for most of the first half. Andre Durie, Toronto Argonauts: Durie makes the list of candidates for his offence and special teams combined. The fifth-year receiver is second on the team in receiving with 39 catches for 432 yards and a touchdown. And while Chad Owens is firmly entrenched as the teams top returner on special teams, Durie has chipped in 366 combined return yards on the year. And if thats not enough, Durie has also carried the ball a number of times for the Argos offence. Sean Whyte, Montreal Alouettes: Whyte had a streak of 24 straight field goals this season before missing in Hamilton on Labour Day, just four short of the CFL record. And while the third-year kicker fell shy of the record, he does lead the league in kicking points with 117 and is 26 for 29 in field goal attempts on the year. Johnny Forzani, Calgary Stampeders: Forzani has come on as of late for the Stampeders, with a six-catch, two-touchdown performance against the Alouettes in late-August serving as his coming-out party. In his second year, Forzani is third on the team in receiving with 29 catches for 463 yards. Like Gore and Foster in BC, Forzanis performance has kept a first-round pick - Anthony Parker - primarily on the bench this season. Cory Watson, Winnipeg Blue Bombers: Watson has taken a big leap forward in his second season with the Bombers. After showing some promise in his rookie year, Watsons production has jumped to the point where he is second in receiving in Winnipeg only to All-Canadian Terrence Edwards. His 546 receiving yards are just outside the leagues top 10 and second among Canadian receivers. Jerome Messam, Edmonton Eskimos: Messam makes this list mostly for his early season work. While Messam is now sharing more of his carries with American backs, he is still fifth in the league with 390 rushing yards. Messams early season performance gave the Eskimos a Canadian starter at a typically American position and fairly consistent ball mover that played a big part in Edmontons surprising start. Youve heard what we had to say; now its your turn. Who is the Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the mid-way point of the season? As always, its Your! Call. Andrew Luck Colts Jersey . -- Doug Baldwin does not want to be in the middle of this debate. Phillip Dorsett Womens Jersey . Hoban scored at even strength and on the power play in the first period and added a short-handed goal in the third. But the out-of-character move paid off as he scored at 3:41 of overtime to give the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in NHL action Friday night. MINNEAPOLIS -- Soft-spoken and quiet, Luke Ridnour does his job with little fanfare. After sending the Timberwolves to a buzzer-beater victory heading into the All-Star break, he couldnt help but enjoy the moment, at least for a little bit. Ridnour hit a floater in the lane at the buzzer, capping Minnesotas comeback from 16 points down in the fourth quarter as the Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 100-98 on Wednesday night. Utahs Al Jefferson sank a jumper with Love in his face to tie the score at 98 with 7 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Ridnour took a pass from J.J. Barea, drove the lane, and sank a high-arching runner off of one leg over Jefferson as the buzzer sounded. "Luke knocks that down all the time," Wolves coach Rick Adelman said. "The floater, he knows hes got to get it off before he gets to the big guys. That was unbelievable, in traffic, getting around the guy and knocking it down. Couldnt be happier for him." Ridnour said the play was for Barea to attack off the pick-and-roll, but two Utah defenders switched and took that option away so Barea found Ridnour. "Yeah, I thought it was going in," Ridnour said. "To see it go in was a good feeling." Barea finished with a season-high 22 points and tied a career high with five 3-pointers, and Ridnour added 17 points. Nikola Pekovic, playing through an ankle injury, added 15 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Millsap scored 25 and Josh Howard added a season-high 19 to lead the Jazz, who lost their third straight and stumble into the All-Star break. "Its a tough one, just hands down," Howard said. "Thats something thats going to be on your mind for a little bit." Wolves rookie Derrick Williams converted a three-point play with 56.7 seconds left to tie the score at 93, then got fouled attempting a fastbreak layup after Loves steal. Williams made both free throws with 42.5 seconds left to give Minnesota its first lead since 2-0, and the Timberwolves didnt trail again. "I like to get put in those clutch situations," Williams said. "I feel a little more comfortable, a little more locked in. At that point in time, I was just like, I cant miss these free throws." Gordon Hayward had a chance to tie it with 28.7 seconds to play, but missed the second of two free throws. The Wolves enter the All-Star break at .500 or better for the first time since the 2004-05 season. Their 17 wins matches their total from last season. Consecutive 3-pointers from Bareaa and Ridnour cut Utahs lead to 91-90 with just over two minutes to play.dddddddddddd. Ridnour also made two free throws with 26.3 seconds left to extend Minnesotas lead to 97-94. The Wolves have fallen behind by 14 or more points in 12 of their last 21 games, but are 12-9 over that stretch. Their latest comeback was their largest of the season. "Anytime youre on the road and you let a team back in it, they start thinking they can make shots and they start playing harder on defence," Hayward said. "It just cant happen." Utah led by as many as 18 and kept pounding the ball inside to stay ahead. The Jazz -- second in the NBA in points in the paint per game -- finished with 58 points inside. The Jazz lost their third straight and fourth consecutive on the road. Theyve had two road losing streaks of four or more games this season and have lost eight of their last 10 overall. "Its disheartening to us, but you have to learn through it," Utah coach Tyrone Corbin said. "We play well enough to win these games, but we have to learn how to finish. Its real painful now and it should hurt. Coming out of the All-Star break we have to learn our lessons so we dont make these mistakes." Howard started for Raja Bell, who missed the game with a strained left adductor. Minnesota shot just 31 per cent in the first half with their starting frontcourt of Love, Pekovic and Wes Johnson going a combined 2 for 19. The Wolves finished the game on a 33-15 run and shot 52.4 per cent in the fourth quarter. "Our goal was to get to .500 at the break a couple weeks ago when we were four or five games under and we were able to do that," Ridnour said. We understand what we have in the second half of the season with the tough schedule, but just to put yourself in a chance to make the playoffs, getting to .500 is big." NOTES: Minnesota trailed 83-67 with 9:36 left before rallying to win. Its the largest lead the Wolves have overcome that late into a game since Feb. 27, 1997, at Dallas. ... Corbin on Derrick Favours, Jermey Evans and Hayward participating in All-Star competitions: "Its a tremendous reward for them to be a part of it and we look forward to having them be a part of the game on Sunday instead of the Saturday night game at some point in their career." ...
