Ahead by one in the 10th, Sonnenberg clogged up the four-foot, leaving Auld a difficult shot to tie. Aulds rock rolled too far, giving the team from Grande Prairie, Alta., two more points and the victory. Sonnenberg will now meet A-event winner Kelly Scott of Kelowna, B.C., in the Page playoff A-B game on Saturday. The winner will be guaranteed one of the two remaining womens spots at next months Olympic trials in Winnipeg. "We were getting beat," Sonnenberg said after the game. "We had to take some risks. And it kind of worked brilliantly for us because we were going to lose if we didnt do something. So we finished up incredibly strong." "We made some more precise draws and put more pressure on them," she said. "The first three quarters of the game we were chasing them a lot. So we turned that tide, took some risks early by setting up guards and leaving their counters in. They started having to chase us, and it panned out."

Betemit hadnt played since Sept. 16, and manager Jim Leyland said Monday he was concerned about the third baseman. But Betemit was in the lineup Tuesday, and he gave AL Central champion Detroit a 4-0 lead in the second inning with the towering homer to right field. Betemit also drew a walk, and he scored twice before being pulled after five innings. "It worked out pretty good," Leyland said. "Wilson came back and played a few innings, went up and got treated right afterward. Hell play tomorrow again." The Tigers remained one game behind AL West champion Texas, which cruised to a 10-3 victory at the Los Angeles Angels. Detroit needs to finish at least even with the Rangers to have home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. If not, the Tigers will start on the road against the New York Yankees.
