NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans waived veteran receiver Justin Hunter and running back Bishop Sankey?as part of a slew of cuts Friday to get their roster down to 53 players.The Titans also released running back Dexter McCluster and waived offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi.Tennessee traded up in the second round in 2013 to draft Hunter out of Tennessee and spent its 2014 second-round pick on Sankey, the first running back selected in that draft.But neither player has come close to reaching his potential for the Titans.Hunter leaves with 68 catches for 1,116 yards and eight touchdowns. But coaches have consistently talked about his inconsistencies and unreliability. Sankey ran 199 times for 762 yards and three touchdowns.McCluster, who signed a three-year, $9 million deal in 2014 that included $4 million in guaranteed money, rushed for 378 yards in his two seasons with the Titans and served as their primary punt returner. Poutasi was a third-round pick last season.The Titans have just three second-round picks on their roster that they drafted -- outside linebacker Kevin Dodd, defensive lineman Austin Johnson and running back Derrick Henry. All three are rookies.Tennessee traded last years second-rounder, receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, to the Eagles last month in exchange for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly.The Titans also waived 18 other players, including offensive lineman Will Poehls and fullback Sam Bergen.
